I've been on Met for 4 days now, and just trying to get through and cope with the initial side effects.
One thing I've noticed is I'm craving sugar BIG time. Is this normal?? How do I get around it without indulging in sweets???
Please help![]()

Every time I've started met (was off for awhile) My doc has given me phentermine, so I didn't eat anything at all, and then when I did eat, even toast, I was in the bathroom within 20 minutes. This is so not the way to take care of them cravings.
As for me regular everyday life, I am craving bad foods all the time!!!!!! So I will be checking back here. I don't have the sweet tooth so much, I can walk by candies, ice cream, etc. But Pasta, Mountain Dew, Pizza, Chips, those are my weaknesses!
Maybe you could try these things that I actually used to eat before I got pcos (when I was 14)
I ate yogurts, fat free chocolate pudding, the quaker caramel rice cakes, alot of fruit.
I need to start doing that again, that used to be all I wanted to eat, including chicken and spaghetti :-). And salads with french dressing.
It is so funny how I used to actually eat healthy, I used to walk everywhere, ever since I was little I would get up in the am and exercise with denise austen lol, then I get this, pack on 80 lbs with out even batting an eye. frustrating!!!
Yep frustrating is an understatement tasha!!
What's cruel is you seem to crave all the foods you can't/shouldn't eat!! What's with that?? I'm hoping as time goes on these cravings will go. I'm finding it really hard right now . . argghhhh!!
I am trying to eat healthy, salads, yoghurt, lots of water, fruit etc.
i get cravings for carb's - dutty chips especially

When I started met the opposite happened thank God , I lost my sugar and carb cravings and because of nausea didnt feel like eating at all.
After 6 months on met - now on 2000mgs XR, the cravings and appetite are coming back slightly but not very hungry in mornings though.
I just have a capp and thats all i feel like but mostly I force myself to have museli and yogurht.

I've lost my appetite as well, but crave sugar though. Like I'm not hungry AT ALL but I want sugar if that makes sense.
I literally have to make myself eat, but Ive been like that for ages anyway, hardly any appetite but piling weight on at a rate of knots
Sarrah, have u lost weight from being on the met????
I was like this too until I started eating organic foods and realized that many organic fruits were more healthy for me than normal fruits and it settled the sweet craving- the oranges and the grapes were the best. So maybe trying that instead will help you out. I know it helped me- but there are those times that I'm like ok GIVE ME CHOCOLATE! - You'll have this.

If you eat a lower carb diet the cravings will go away...the first week I was on low carb I thought I was going to die! it didn't matter what I ate or how much of it...since it wasn't bread products I was craving like crazy...but then they just stopped and I had to start making myself eat. I go in and out of the sugar cravings...sometimes I want it and sometimes I want nothing to do with it. It is a frustrating thing!
