Talking Sugar free Hersheys

Has anyone seen the new sugar free Hersey bars? I hadn't, but someone at work had some today and they are really good. She said you can find them at wal-mart -- I haven't looked yet, but I think I might go look tonight!

I looked at the package today, it looks like they are sweetened with sucralose, the same stuff as in splenda. I looked all over the place in wal-mart, and couldn't find it. I am going to check kroger tomorrow.

Talking yummy!

I am holding a package of the Sugar Free miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups right now. I heard about them on the radio and went over to Hershey to get them ASAP! lol They are so good!!

Serving size is 5 pieces
Total Carbohydrates: 23grams
Dietary Fiber: 1gram
Sugars: Ograms
Lacitol: 19grams

At the bottom of the package is says "Lacitol (a sugar substitute) is a slowly metabolized carbohydrate that generally causes only a small rise in blood glucose levels."

I've been low carbing for a 15 months now . . . these are a godsend! lol

Oh good! That means there's only 4 net grams of carbs! I really want chocolate and peanutbutter too!

I wonder if lacitol if related to maltitol another slowly metaobized carb. I'm eating a Pure De-lite milk chocolate crisp candy bar (sweetened w/ maltitol) right now! Ummm. It's so good! Better go to Walmart and get some more - it's my last one!

Thanks doodlebug!

Cool Hi my Fellow Chocoholics

I am sooo addicted to Pure Delight Chocolate Bars. I love the one with almond, it tastes like a Toblerone to me The coconut one is really good too, & usually I don't love coconut.
The only problem with Pure Delight is that they are pretty expensive here (about $3/bar with tax).
I was wondering if anyone knows if the Russell Stover Sugar Free chocolates are OK for those of us doing low carb?? I have started to buy them instead b/c they are a lot cheaper, but the carb count is much higher.
The Pure Delight wrapper only tells you the (net) # of carbs that actually affect your blood sugar, so it leaves out Maltitol, but I think that the Russell Stover carb count includes Maltitol??
If anyone knows whether or not these are OK I'd love to know. Hopefully I'm not sabotaging my diet!!
Thanks,
Elizabeth
P.S. I also love the sugar-free Chapmans Ice Cream Sandwiches & Fudgesicles!! Please tell me these are OK!!
Here in Canada the sugar-free Hershey's haven't arrived yet, I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Errr... does that mean that your intestines have trouble with sugar alcohols?? If so - wow, that's too bad. Although, sensitivity to sugar alcohols may be a blessing in disguise...
I am such a chocoholic & these are allowing me to remain an addict! Oh well.....

lactitol is probably made out of lactose (milk sugar). I don't know, I'm only guessing.

The russels stover's stuff does include the carbs from the malitol. If you look on the package I think that it is written on there somewhere, the 'net carb count'. Personally if I eat more than one of those I am sick to my stomache, so be careful! But I love Hershey's chocolate. I'm going to Walmart the first second I get a chance to look for them. Where has everyone found theirs??

Cool

Tori, I was interested to read that the Russell Stover's make you feel sick!! I have a couple of friends who say the same. Strange... makes me a little wary.
Do you mean sick like stomach pain, or throwing up, or diarrhea? Which type of their chocolate makes you feel sick? I *love* the peanut butter cups but the pecan clusters & truffles aren't that great (IMO).
I wish so much we had the sugar free Hershey's here in Canada. I would be all over those for sure. We always have to wait extra long up here to get everything (it sucks).

Happy Munching!!!

It's the malitol. I just answered another post about it. It gives me stomache pains and lots of gas. So much that it is not worth eating! But everyone is different, though I don't recall hearing from anyone who has had any luck with it.
