My Mood: Points: 17,905.58 Bank: 17,082.16 Total Points: 34,987.74 | suggestions for someone without health insurance... i don't know if this is the right place for this post so it might be moved but i was just wondering if there is anything else i can do that doesn't involve medication right now. i am waiting to get insurance from my job and hopefully i will have it by may but in the meantime is there anything i can do?? i exercise and try and eat right (my diet is low carb/sugar anyway) even though it seems like it has not made a difference recently. i have proably gained at least 30-40 pounds since last year yet i haven't been doing anything differently. i wish i could afford to go to the doctor without insurance but for right now that's not possible. and i just found out today that since my job is considered part time (even though we work 37.5 hrs/week) we only get partial benefits. i dont really know what that means but now i am worried that if the doctor doesn't see anything wrong (it's happened before) that i won't be able to get the treatment i need. any advice would be appreciated!

My Mood: Points: 741.69 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 741.69 | I understand your frustrations over insurance. Been there done that so to speak. Other than weight, I am not sure which symptoms you suffer from that you want to treat, but I highly recommend the Alternative Remedies Forum. I have always self treated with nutrition and supplements and find the Cysters there so helpful and knowledgeable. I am IR, and try to follow the Zone diet as it was recommended to me by Doctor as a good model of the 40/30/30 plan. There may be better or similar plans available now, but reading that book and following the plan has helped me loose the extra pounds so I stick with it. Before understanding my condition, I really didn't eat many calories, but they were mostly carbs and I packed on the extra pounds. Hope you find something that works for you soon! |

I also recommend checking out the alternative remedies board. We're very helpful, and you can poke around and check things out. You can post about what you're looking for (such as, do you need alternative treatment for weight, af, etc...)
I really suggest just poking around first, most of the time some one has already asked a question that you may have. Also, check out the stickies at the top of the board.
Good luck with everything!

I eat right (just started) and I exercise. I also just purchased the GI tract diet!!
