i am brand new to this site. i am actually *hoping & praying* i have PCOS (weird huh) and not something worse.
LONG STORY SHORT: i got my bloodwork done (havent been able to get PG, i am 34 yrs old)
and my DHEAS level was 698! (mcg.dl...normal is 52-400) everything i read said 700 + is a sign of a tumor!
my endo thinks it could be PCOS, though: here is why
1.adult acne!
2. irregular periods (i am charting and i seem to ovulate 10 out of 12 cycles, cycle lengths of 31-40 days)
3. LH was 4.0 but FSH was less than 1!! (bad ratio)
ALL OTHER LAB RESULTS WERE NORMAL.................
anyone have any experiences with high high DHEAS?! i cant take the "dex test" til i get AF (to be sure i am not PG....) (which is also scary, what if i got PG with this outta control DHEAS level??)
I wonder if I should be freaking out, my levels a few weeks ago was 922 or something. My doctor didn't seem to be worried about it at all. I am going back on Friday to have my thyroid rechecked. I will defineatley ask him specifically about this!!!

I have the lab papers right here and it says "DHEA 932" it also has ranges for someone my age.
Female- ages 20-29 162-995
30-39 112-722
I had these tests done the last week in October a few days before my 30th birthday. Do you have any more info on DHEA's? I did a google search and all I got was stuff on supplements.
I have an appointment on Friday with someone different in the office.

I am wondering if it matters on what day of your cycle the test was done on. I printed out some articles to take to the doctor. It did say in the articles that I read that women with PCOS have higher levels.
Is there anything you can do to lower your levels??

I'm right there with you guys and currently finishing up ruling out an adrenal adenoma.
In June I had a DHEAS level of 709 repeasted for accuracy was 711 I was referred to a medical endo for further work up and had a total cortisol level of 14.0 which was in range, a free urine 24 hour cortisol level of 107 H range is 20-90 and ACTH level of 40 which was normal. When I went back to my fertitily specialist he repeated my DHEAS and testosterone (June was 107) and both levels came down a little DHEAS was 689 and Testosterone 67 why they came down I have no idea I have been on Met over a year. Anyway long story short I had a MRI of my adrenal glands (2x) they called me back after the 1st for more views and I am awaiting the call from my doc. He did the MRI to be "sure" if ok we will most likely start the Dex. I am looking forward to having this resolved and getting that level down my view is even with PCOS values that high I would think should be addressed somehow...

NANCI its nice to meet you! i have been doing acupuncture and chinese herbs and my cycle is dramatically improved, nice "normal" cycles, ovulating, too! it's a miracle!
about the DHEAS--->it doesnt matter when its taken (according to my endo)....it signifies adrenal issues....she is going to give me a dose of dexo--something and test my blood again. if it works to bring it down i think that rules out the tumor thing. i found out i have some adrenal issues in my family. also that ashkenazi jews have a much higher rate of this stuff too ----
