Default Super Oily Scalp/Hair

Does anyone else have super oily/greasy hair like mine? It's really bad. And, it's at it's worse when I don't put any styling products in it. For example, on weekends or whatever, I sometimes will just wash and quickly blowdry my hair without using any products in it. Well, the next morning (and often a lot sooner than the next morning, sometimes the same day), my hair/scalp is so greasy, it's ridiculous. It seriously looks like I haven't washed it in weeks. Even when I do use my regular products, it still gets really greasy, but not quite as badly as without products (I'm not sure if styling products may somehow block some of the oil, or dry out some of the oil).

Does anyone else have this? Have you found anything that alleviates it at all? Any advice would be appreciated. I need to get this under control.

I used to have stick to my head hair, but I tried a mixture of oils - Ylang Ylang, Avocado Oil and others to make a great product that kindly removes grease, but does not strip the hair of its essential oils. I'll have a look when I get home to see (am at work at the moment!) what is included and I'll let you know.

Ok, don't laugh, every once in a while I use Joy (yes, the dishwashing liquid) when my hair is so oily I can't stand it. This usually helps cut back on the oil. I have had a stylist recommend rinsing your hair with Sea Breeze and then using your regular shampoo.

I use Prell everyday. I also use gel everyday. If I don't my hair is horrible. It gets really really oily. I can't use mousse, that makes it worse and the shampoo they use in the salons is terrible on my hair. So, I just stick to regular Prell and Joy.

Also, if you have soft water, I would use a very small amount of shampoo. Soft water makes my hair so oily.

I have been going through this for years. I found that Prell works the best for me with an occasional wash with Joy.

I hope this helps

Do you have a WHole Foods by you? They sell this stuff that you can wash your hair with, wash your body with, and all kids of other uses. It is some kind of natural pepermint stuff that works so good at killing oily hair. I wash my body with it 1-2 times a week and it feels so cool on your body. If you have one by you I wil go upstairs and get you the name of it.

Hmmmm, no we don't have Whole Food Stores here in Canada (at least I don't think we do, there are none in my area).

But, I'd love to know the name of this product - maybe they sell it at one of the stores that we have here.

Tea tree oil is supposed to be good for oily skin and hair. My husband has very oily hair and uses Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo. It seems to work better than almost anything else. I also know the Body Shop sells a tree tree line of facial products. I use their seaweed stuff, and it works like a champ for my combo skin.

HTH,
Tracey

Sorry for the late reply, I've been off with the cold for a couple of days....better now. So, it turns out that it is Ylang Ylang, Avocado Oil and rosemary. Pretty gloopy, but it helps my hair.

I heard vinegar is good too - but never tried it. Has anyone else???

if you need a quick fix when your hair get really greasey at that exact time when you can't take a shower or wash it, try just sprinkling some baby powder on your scalp. be sure to shake your hair out really well though, you don't want to look like you have a snow storm in your hair! hell, I've even used flour at my desperate times!!

another quick remedy is spraying hair spray on your roots and then combing it out and blow drying it. The heat makes the stuff that makes it stiff and sticky evaporate. the oil evaporates with it.
