Has anyone seen this movie? There was a brief mention of PCOS in a list of other medical conditions/ illnesses... he claimed all steamed from obesity/ poor eating. At that point, I started on my rant about genetics* and being overweight as a result of PCOS rather than it being caused by weight. (*The doctor who first suspected I have it and the first I ever heard about it was my dad's doctor who got the idea I have it based on my dad's metabolic syndrome...)

Anyway,... anyone watch it?

I saw it a couple of months ago...I got a upset too about what it said about PCOS, the guy obviously didn't really know his facts about it. But other than that I found it to be really interesting, it's called Rotten Ronnie's for a reason! Or at least that's what I call McDonalds.

I agree... it was interesting for sure! Fast food is just so convenient, though... and there are a few less nasty options at some places.

I just saw the movie a couple of weks ago. I wasn't suprised at the effects of fast food. I thought it was great how he went into different schools and touched on the nutrition issue in schools. I loved how he questioned them about the lack of nutrional chioces and the plentiful "bad food" choices. Their response was they want kids to learn how to make good food choices on their own.

I saw that too. It was a really quick mention of it but I agree that it should not have been in there.

I had every PCOS symptom before I got fat..now I sometimes wonder if my symptoms are better than they were when I was skinny.
I hated the documentary because although the idea was good the the guy was obviously misinformed.

I totally agree with you! I was a little annoyed at the movie's claim that obesity caused PCOS! It made me feel guilty...like I brought my diagnosis on myself because I am overweight. That guy obviously didn't do his homework!

What kind of annoyed me is half of the problems they said are caused by being fat are symptoms of PCOS. So what causes what? Yeah DH stopped the Movie at that point as I said, "excuse me? i had PCOS when I was thin! I gained weight years later" Grrrr....... stupid!

Oh wow how ironic I was just talking about this movie with my FI late last night. He rented it yesterday & was telling me how they mentioned PCOS & IR among other things. He has since vowed not to eat McD's anymore esp the fries, although I am not quite sure why, since it was late & he didn't get into to many details. I haven't seen it yet but I will see if I can rent it soon.

You can go to www.supersizeme.com and complain. I did. They have a section for "contacting them" so i sent them an e-mail, along with some PCOS recourses. I think it would be great if we all did this!

I think McDonald's can't possibly be healthy for anyone, but as far as obesity goes, it's not so cut and dry as not eating McDonald's nor is PCOS. If he would have done as much homework on PCOS as he did the rest of his film, he would have realized that it's a syndrome that even specialists in PCOS can't agree about yet.
