Around 2:00 in the afternoon i am just dragging big time. I can barely keep my eyes open. I havent touched any work on my desk. I am dieing right now. Does anyone else get that way? I mean im ready to just pass out. All i had for lunch was a bagel with an egg in between, it wasnt even that big.

Hi Boxer mom,
I don't really know what could be causing your excessive sleepiness. The first thing that entered my mind when I read your post was how when my depression is worse, I am sleepier during the day. I feel like I constantly need a nap!
I also know some cysters who have hypothyroid (I personally do not have) and it definitely made them sleepy and just generally "fuzzy" throughout the day.
Also high blood sugars can make you sleepy. I am type 2 diabetic, it is well-controlled but when I am pregnant and my sugars are funny sometimes, I am tired constantly!
Hope you find the answer to your trouble!
Hugs
Jenny

My uncle would actually fall asleep at work and it turned out it was from Hypothyroidism. Once he was on meds it got better.
My sis also sleeps ALOT... she used to nap like 4 hours a day even with a full nights sleep. She has a lot of symptoms that indicate a hormone problem but with no diagnosis yet.
Did this happen before you started dieting too? It could be that you aren't taking in enough energy for the day(caffeine can cause a mid-afternoon crash too) but it could also definitely be a hormonal issue. Hope you are feeling more awake soon!

Hi Boxer Mom,
I know how you are feeling. I get this way when my thyroid is out of wack. It usually means some lab work and a med change. But, trust me it is so much worth it to feel better. Good luck.
You may not be getting enough calories. I find that when I am not eating right I get VERY tired. Try eating a bit more at lunch (skipping the carbs may help) and drinking more water. The water will keep you hydrated and will help cut any cravings for caffine. (I flavor my water with a little crystal light or something)

The only time I really get tired like that is just before and during my period. It really takes a lot out of me for some reason. I almost feel like I become anemic during my period. If it's your time of the month, maybe that has something to do with it.
I am that way too, but all the time. I am tired when I get up in the morning and stay that way all day long. I have a hard time working, concentrating and functioning. I find that I get that way more when I am not eating the way I am suppose too. I am type 2 and on diabetic exchanges, met and aldactone. When I eat the way I am suppose too, I feel a lot better, but it is difficult for me to stay on it. I crave sweets all the time. You might try spreading your fats, carbs, fruits and veggies out all day long and eat healthy well proportioned meals. You can go to the american diabetes assoc website and look at exchange lists for suggestions and information. I hope this helps you.
If I don't eat well I feel sluggish and sleepy- I really need to stabilising my blood sugar through what I eat. I know I would feel rotten eating a bagel. I tend to snack on a few nuts and seeds to pick me up and I start the day with porridge.
Good luck finding a solution that words for you, its a horrible feeling.
Its nice to know that we aren't suffering alone and that we are all in it together and talking about our problems and helping each other find solutions. I haven't been a member long. I've had a hard time facing this problem and not being embarrassed. It wasn't until I joined this site that I realized that I am not alone in dealing with the hair, skin tags, weight problems and everything else. I am very thankful for everyone here and thankful that I found others just like me. Thanks to everyone.
