I think everyone is taking something different...

Personally I take... (will list everything)

AM
Glucophage 1000mg
Welbutrin 200mg
Saw Palmetto 320mg
GNC Ultra Nourishair

PM
Glucophage 1000mg
Welbutrin 150mg
Saw Palmetto 320mg
Prenatal vitamin (mainly because they are free with a prescription, heh)
Evening primrose oil 1300mg

I also consume 2 T of ground flax seed a day, mixed in a big dollop of yogurt or a little bit of juice... it's really really really disgusting and makes me gag but it's supposed to lower testosterone so I keep at it... I do it whenever I can psych myself up to it, usually I don't get around to it until bedtime when I berate myself for not taking it.

I have also started doing the soy isoflaven thing, days 5-9 of my cycle 100mg every morning to make me ovulate. I just finished this for the second time yesterday so I don't know if it will work again. I hope so.

The saw palmetto is a new one for me, I am mainly concerned with my hair falling out... so far I haven't seen any change, I've only been on it a week and two days or so. You're only supposed to take 160mg twice a day but I am taking a higher dose for a week to try to knock my hormones into submission faster... don't know how smart this is. My doctor won't even check my testosterone so I don't even really know if that's the problem!

I am about to be started on an iron supplement as well since my ferratin level is 6 and normal is 15-20 and up... they haven't called the script in yet, though.

Thanks...will try some of the above. I'm 54 so don't need to worry about ovulations!! Losing hair...male patterned baldness is the pits. Been trying to find out what was my problem for 44 years!!! Just diagnosed 2 yrs. ago. My testosterone level is high enough for me and a healthy male or two. Testing is imperative. My was done with a 24 hr. urine collection and blood test.
Thanks again.

Gizmo, get another doctor, seriously. One that knows that all the sex hormones, your cholesterol and lipids and a glucose tolerance test are the minimum tests for PCOS.
Even if he doesn't think it is PCOS, he should at least do your sex hormones.
This kind of thing frustrates me to even read!
