Default Supplements and Low Level Laser Treatments?

I'm on the metformin now.. and I'm seeing results.... but I'm still bleeding as soon as I go off BCP... and won't stop..

and my insulin levels are still bad..

I'm going to Dr. Allon in Houston.. and he's teaching me alot.. helping.. I like him for the medical stuff..

HOWEVER, the nutrition side.. I'm a little scared that I'm getting taken for a ride?
First of all the supplements I got are:

Vitagenis ProBiotic Defense... supposed to help flora in my digestive tract, right?

CinnaMed by Vitagenis - I see it's active ingredient is mostly chromium... and ginseng.. something about 12% extract

DSF Formula by Nutri-West - Didn't really understand what this one was about

EFA Pure Omega - These are fish oils, right? Is the price really worth it to get the Vitagenis brand?

Vana Chrome by Nutri-West - No idea what this is either.. other than it was sold in conjunction with the Cinnamed...

Anyone else on there? found alternative to these?

The nutritionist also has me Detoxing GHI... It's called "Cleanse Support"... Anyone else did this?
----

Now onto the Low Level Laser treatments... has anyone did this? Was it worth it? I tried to search for laser treatments, but everything I got was in reference to hair removal..

This is some sorta laser detox.. it's 6 weeks.. 3 times a week.. where they search for food allergies, mis firing in your body.. and claim to fix it..

has anyone else did this and it work?

I'm just skeptical of laying down 2-3k for this...

Are you still doing the 28-day cleanse detox program?

I would be. Do you know anyone personally who has done it?

No. That's why I didn't do it.

Yes I did the PCOS cleanse for 28 days... but I'm not paying 70 dollars for two weeks of protein again..

I'm buying my protein from my gym now

They told me the PCOS cleanse would cause bathroom problems if I ate the things on the "don't eat" list...
I never once had a problem..

But I did cut out all white carbs... all soda.... and all diet foods with aspartame/splenda..

Why did you continue to eat things on the 'don't eat' list?

The don't eat list contained cheese, nuts, almond butter...

It was like bland, low carb.. and I didn't want to set myself up to being THAT strict.. then mentally failing at it.

I'm very into control... and if I fail at something.. it throws EVERYTHING off for me..

so I modified it.. and still did string cheese, nuts, and dairy...

Essentially it was just a cleanse of lean proteins.. and that shake.. everyday for 28days.. and I knew realistically my brain would take a BEATING everyday doing that.

especially if I failed..

Hey Brandi, I'm on day 16 of the 28 day cleanse, and really can't have much more of this baby food. I couldn't do two scoops so I'm just doing 1 tall scoop - and I'm almost out.

I took her list of recommended supplments and went to the Vitamin Shoppe.
Black Currant Seed Oil - 10.00
Total Thyroid - 12.00
Total Brain - 10.00

And I know the clinics prices didn't dip below 25.00 per bottle. So I'm glad I shopped around. I think the nutritionist is so contrasting in manner and such compared to Dr Allon, that I was a little taken aback that he would have her on his staff. I dunno maybe I caught her on a wrong day. I didn't necessarily feel taken for a ride, because my symptoms are improving... but like everyone else they are there to make money. It seems that the Vitagenis line is like a private label he is starting out - so the price is probably paying for the upstart. I opted to subsitute at the Vitamin Shoppe.

As far as the detox powder - I compared it to the Vitamin Shoppe Vitamin Powder (on the supplement side not the protein shake side) and the equivalent amount would be $40 vs $70 at the clinic. The ingredient list is about 90% the same. I havn't made up my mind if I should subsitute this yet.

FYI for anyone else out there trying to not kill the budget while detoxing.

Please tell me how your doing now 2-3 months down the line after the detox... Thanks.

I still have 2 or 3 containers of the protein powder from Dr. Allon. These are unopened. I quit back in March. I am pregnant.

If anyone wants to make me a deal on these containers please let me know. I can't take them while pregnant and I don't see myself taking them once baby #2 is born and I am breastfeeding.

Texasred,

I can't send you a PM/Email since my post counts aren't that high. I only have about 2 days worth of powder and I would like to take some off of your hand. Do you have the 30 oz canister or the larger Rasberry Lemonade one?

Are you in the Houston area? I live in NW Houston, but I'm willing to drive to you and pick a couple up. Congrats on the babymaking!

please email me at maguilar@geotrace.com

I too have also been going to Dr. Allon since December. In February, I started meeting with their nutritionist. I've been drinking the Cleanse Support protein drinks for months now and have really felt the hurt to my wallet. Every two weeks it cost $66.00. I have noticed results though. I've lost 30lbs. I"m also taking the various supplements--DSF (helps with adrenal issues), Total Female, and Core Level Liver, all of which I'm purchasing there. I've been purchasing pharmaceutical grade fish oil from my work at a lower cost. I've also recently asked some our nutrion expert at work to review my supplement regimine. I'm waiting to hear back from him. In the meantime, I'm sticking to a horribly strict diet (no dairy, no beef, no eggs, no gluten, and no citrus) and drinking 2 of the Cleanse support drinks a day. I also recently did a hormone panel and i'm awaiting to see the results. The nutritionist is hoping we can identify why i'm having such a hard time losing more weight. I excercise 5 to 6 days a week and have been since January. If you have any insight, let me know.
