Default Supplements/Vitamins for IR

I didn't know which section to post this under so I thought the general category would be as good as any.

My question is: What sort of supplements or vitamins do you take for you Insulin Resistance?

I'm currently only on 1500mg of Metformin. I have been doing some research on cinnamon & I think I might try it. Although, where can you buy the cinnamon capsuls? Can you find them at Wal-Mart or pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens?

Thanks a bunch!

Default Cinnamon supplement

I have taken the cinnamon supplement. They didn't seem to do much for me other than give me an upset stomach and heartburn. I got mine at a health food place. CVS and Walgreens didn't have them. You can get a liquid form to put on your food or the capsule form. I took the capsule form.

I got my cinnamon supplements from Wal-Mart. I'm also taking a B-vitamin "super" complex that has b6, b12, folic acid etc. This was recommended by my dr.

I bought some today at Wal-Mart. I'm going to start taking them tomorrow.

What sort of differences have you notices in your body since taking the cinnamon? Has it helped w/ you metabolism? I noticed on the bottle it says it helps w/ sugar metabolism. Weight loss?

It helps with my blood sugar so I don't feel like I need to eat all the time. I have been taking it for about a month now. I have lost a little weight but I have also increased my exercising.

I just started taking it about a week ago. I haven't really had a chance to see any difference yet. Yesterday, I went to The Vitamin Shoppe and got an anti-candida/yeast kit w/ probiotics, organic apple cider vinegar, and omega-3 fish oil. Hopefully, this comination of herbal supplements will help...

It takes a while to kick in sometimes, but I've been on Cinnamon since late October and I have seen two periods on my own for the first time since Dec 2005 this month and last month. I also notice my cravings for protein go up and my cravings for sugary foods diminish, but it comes and goes after a while.

I hope it works for you guys and come join us on the Cinnamon Cysters thread!
