Presently, we are seeking to form a group for women in the D/FW area who are dealing with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
The group would meet once a month to share experiences, discuss care options, explore new treatments, or just vent. As the group grows, guest speakers from the medical community and other supportive professions may be engaged as well. The monthly face-to-face meetings are intended to provide additional support and information above and beyond what you may already have access to online or through other networks.
If you have an interest in participating or learning more, please reply to this ad.

Hey yall, I'm in fort worth and I'd be interested as well.
Does anyone know of a good endocrinologist who deals with PCOS in the area? I'd be willing to travel to dallas for a good dr, as long as he/she is on my insurance plan.
Hi, Jennifer. James Douglas in Plano is a reproductive endocrinologist. He deals with lots of patients with PCOS, but I don't know whether he deals only with PCOS patients who are trying to great pregnant (they do a lot of in vitro, etc., which I haven't needed, but they have been absolutely terrific at monitoring all the various hormones that I need to have monitored after suffering several miscarriages, which most likely resulted from hormone imbalances.) The drive from FW to his office is an hour. But for me it's been worth it. I really don't know whether he's the right doctor for you if you're not seeking to become pregnant, but if you ever reach that point, I definitely would recommend him and his staff.
The formation meeting for the new DFW Support Group has been delayed to Saturday, February 24 from 2 to 4pm. Please mark your calendar now. The formation event location will be decided upon soon.

Jennifer - if you are not trying to get pregnant, I would NOT recommend Dr. Douglas! My OB/GYN recommended him a year ago even though I am not trying to get pregnant but I went to him anyways to see if he could still help me. And it was the MOST frustrating appointment and a waste of my time! Basically he wouldn't help unless I was trying to get pregnant. I have heard he is good if you are trying but if you are not, I don't recommend wasting your time.
I go to Dr. Aranoff in Dallas. He is an endo. I have been seeing him for almost a year and so far he has been helpul. He is understanding if you are not trying to get pregnant.
