Hi , I live in Saskatchewan and am fairly new to pcos! I am having kinda a hard time dealing with everything and was wondering if anyone knew of a support group in this province? Thanx for the help...More specifically I live in Prince Albert , but I am willing to travel.
Hi Andrea- I live in Southern Saskatchewan and have been dealing with PCOS for nearly 7 years... I am 31 and my hubby is 28... I have a great dr. in Saskatoon if you need some info!
Hi Andrea - I know we've touched base a while ago, but I've kinda dropped off the face of my computer for the last little while. I sure could use a support group, although I'm about 5 hours away from P.A. I live near Yorkton, in East Central SK.
When I was first diagnosed, I was "gung-ho" to get this "fixed" (or so I thought). Lately, I can't seem to get the lead out to take my medication (1500mg met.) properly, nor do I care right now. I know that I'm having delayed grief about losing my best friend to breast cancer a year ago in July - but you'd think I would want to look after myself better, right? I have made one great decision recently, I'm quitting my stable, full-time permanent office job to go out on my own! (wise? - not according to my parents, but oh well!) You see, I'm 37 years old, and feel like I've accomplished nothing. So, I'm going to become my own boss! The business will handle stuff like payroll, bookkeeping and the like for farmers, small business or whomever needs it, as well as services such as photocopying, faxing, laminating...and stationery supplies. Living in a small town, these services are not readily available to people and I've wanted to do this for at least 10 years! Plus, I know my best friend would be proud of me. She told me, about a month before she died, (she was 33) that she had regrets about some stuff that she didn't do - so in her honor I'm going for it!
Gosh, I didn't intend for all that to come out - but it just did. To make a long story short, I think a support group in Saskatchewan is a wonderful idea, and necessary. Those of us in the rural areas don't always have access to all the support we need, so we need to look after ourselves, right?!
And Nicole, perhaps we go to the same doctor in Saskatoon -
Dr. Smith? She's fantastic, easy to talk to and actually listens to the little quirky questions a person has!
Anyway, must get to work--although the boss can't really fire me anymore as I've already given notice!!
Keep in touch.
Carol B.
