Post Surgery

Hi! I am new to this message board, but am not new to PCOS. I have known I've had PCOS for about the past 5 years. However, as teenager at the time, I had chosen to ignore it. Now, I am in a bit of a different situation. I am at that age where my friends are beginning to get married and have children and I want to be there someday as well. So, I have decided to get this under control. I have started a diet and exercise plan to lose the weight and I have also started taking birth control to regulate myself. However, there are a few things I feel alone in.

About 2 years ago, I had an ovarian torsion and had emergency surgery to remove my left ovary. Since then, I have noticed that every couple of months I get terrible pain in the same spot as where my ovary used to be. I'm hoping it is just scar tissue, but not sure what my instincts are telling me. I've also noticed that during PMS, I get very depressed. I get weepy, can't sleep and just in general feel very stuck. It scares me.

Does anyone else get like this during PMS or suffer from PMDD? I'm not sure if this is caused by the fact that my hormones are now less due to the surgery. Also, if anyone has had similar surgery? If so, do you get this pain too? Please write! Thanks!

Welcome to SC! I have not heard of having one less ovary causing worse PMS. Our weird hormones anyway can cause worse PMS. Mine got better once I got my hormones better under control. The Metformin seemed to work great for me in reducing PMS. Some cysters have found that BCPs make them emotional.
