I have done research and even had my attorney ready with the paperwork. There are different ways of doing this: 1-your husbands sperm and SIL egg via IVF, 2-Your husbands sperm and your egg via IVF into your SIL, and 3-your husbands sperm via a syringe and catheter done at home. Option #2 requires that you and your SIL cycles coincide, which may be more difficult with PCOS.
According to what my lawyer told me and in the state of california, you will have to adopt the baby and your SIL and her DH will have to sign away parental rights, even if it is your egg. Not all lawyers require this, but mine told me this would be the best way to protect your legal rights if the birth mother were to change her mind later on.
Also to do this, you will need a homestudy just like a regular adoption. I was told attorney costs, court fees and homestudy would cost $4,000.
This is a web site that will help you with questions you may have.
