Has anyone else noticed that some of the same non-PCOS related things keep showing up here? Lots of us have things like IR or diabetes that are clearly linked to PCOS, but I keep seeing a lot of other things like asthma, TMJ, and lactose intolerance that aren't related as far as I know. I picked those three because I have them too, but there are others that show up a lot as well. Does anyone with these things think there could be some kind of connection? I'm pretty sure my asthma and lactose intolerance are genetic (my grandpa has severe asthma and mom's lactose intolerant), but no one else in my family has TMJ. My guess is that some of these things might be made worse by being overweight, since so many of us are struggling to lose weight.

Edit: There are also lots of things listed here that I've never heard of. But if anyone's ever had iritis/uveitis, I'd love to hear from you...I've never met anyone else who had it, but I went through a long struggle with it one year and they never figured out what caused it.

I have all of the things listed in my signature, plus IBS, and carpal tunnel. I also have had my gallbladder removed because of gallstones....and my uterus removed because of early stage cancer.

But, I still say -the past is history, the future a mystery, but the present is a GIFT....so enjoy it!!!

I've actually just been making a list for this...I see some similarities with other lady's posts...here's mine. Some of it's kind of private but I feel OK sharing with you:

*may be PCOS related

*Sebhorric dermatitis (dandruff)

*Cystic acne – does get worse that time of the month

*Depression – Sometimes seems situational but also seems to get worse in the fall like SAD

*Weight gain, and always had potbelly even when rest of me was skinny

*Hard to lose weight

*Hirsutism

*Minor skin tags

*Physiological discharge

*Infertile

*One polycystic ovary

*Pain during ovulation from that ovary

Raynaud’s Syndrome (feet and hands get cold way too easy) and I just get cold easily in general

Geographic tongue – started about 1 year or less after last dose of Accutane

Fingernails break easily

Learning disability or ADD?? – Horrible at taking tests, didn’t do that great in school and flunked
first year of college. Hard to concentrate, very hard sometimes.

Confidence and self esteem issues

Allergies – pollen, dust, dust mites, mold, cat, dog, nuts, sesame seeds

Asthma – cats and cold air set it off. Also used to get hives from cold air

Most vegetables taste bitter to me

Picky feet (very hard to find shoes that are comfortable, back heel sticks out)

Very light sleeper

Near sighted and eyes hurt during period – glasses since 4th grade

Hard to hear sometimes especially with background noise or in noisy room

Oh, also should mention that my sister and friend might also have PCOS, they have some of the symptoms, and both of them have had gall bladder removed, and the friend has IBS. So maybe that's related also.

here are my problems.
fibradenoma in my left breast
ganglion cyst in both wrists,
cyst in corner of right eye (people keep telling me I have dirt there)
excercise induced asthma
I don't grind my teeth but I do bite down while I'm asleep (which includes biting my own tongue)
joint pain in both ankles, knees. ( I don't sleep much because I have to pop my left ankle all the time)
Migraine headaches (but the doc says they are slow stress seizures)
PCOS (acne, overweight, ovarian cysts, irregular periods.)
enlarged liver as I type this.
allergies
oh I forgot, if i eat ice cream, or anything greasy I do end up in the bathroom.

when I was little I had kidney problems, plus my joint pain could be from being too tomboyish and a breaking my bones 7bones in total i think, including my nose twice.

so you can call me a hypochondriac if you want, I have actually heard the word before. But, I know I'm not.

Well I am new to this site and wanted to add my "problems" to the list for comparison. Its a little long so bear with me.

* GERD (dx 02/05)
* IBS w/ diarrhea (dx 02/05)
* skin tags (mostly neck)
* dark patches on neck and inner upper thighs
* spare tire effect from fat in middle waist area
* headaches (used to be migraines, now headaches for days at a time)
* osteoarthritis (dx 2000)
* TMJ (dx 2000)
* bone spurs w/ plantar facitis and tendonitis (sp?)
* cysts in my breast, told they were caused by caffeine (dx age 13)
* ulcer in my throat (dx 09/03)
* stomach spasms since age of 10
* chronic sinusitis and rhinositis with ocasional tonsilittis, postnasal drip
* allergies (dog, cat, feathers, 2 types grass, 2 types trees, 2 types mold, 2 types dust mites, casin (milk protein), beef, peanuts, cinnamon, fish, and shellfish) (test done 03/05)
* gallbladder problems, was removed 01/10/05
* cervical strain (neck problems) (car accidents (3) )
* 2 twisted vertibrate (sp?) (car accidents (3) )
* asthma (exercise induced) (had all my life)
* chronic bronchitis (goes hand in hand with allergies and sinus issues)
* my newest one is IR (dx 07/29/05)
* bi-polar disorder with generalized anxiety disorder (dx 2003)

WOW that is such a book. I know I probably left some things out. Funny enough I have all these things going on and I only take meds for IR (Met 2000mg), allergies (shots once weekly and meds daily), and GERD when it acts up (OTC acid reducer).

Oh yeah I almost forgot endometriosis and thin and brittle nails.

I've got PCOS, TMJ, and Hypertension. Perhaps the hypertension is related to the TMJ--when I get stressed out, I grit my teeth!
