Hi, I have been on Metformin for a couple of weeks 1000 mg a day ER, and for the last few days I have been having these episodes where I get really hot and sweat (like a hot flash). I was just wondering if anyone else has done this? It doesn't matter if I have just eaten or I haven't ate in hours (just happens though out the day). I don't know if it is Metformin related or hormone related??? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hello -- I experience the same thing with the hot flashes. I think it has to do with the hormone levels. I am usually always cold but not anymore! I would say this is a another not so pleasent side effect. I do have to say though, I don't have the hot flashes as bad as I did when I first up'd my dose. Good Luck!

Can I ask how much you take? I take 1000 (500 Extended release). I have read on here that a lot of people take 1500. I don't know if I could stand that much. I think the hot flashes may be a sign of hypoglycemia, because I have noticed if I go a while without eating I get the hot flashes and feel awful. I have noticed I'm not craving certain foods as much as I did, that's one good thing so far with this medicine. Thanks for the reply
