Default sweeteners

What sweeteners do you use (for example, to sweeten oatmeal or a smoothie)? I hear such mixed opinions on this, and I'm curious to hear what you think and why.

Thanks!

We buy Splenda and Walmart's version of Splenda. I don't care for the taste of the pink or blue packets.

I agree-splenda all the way. I don't even taste the difference!

If you wanted a bit of maple flavor to the oatmeal - there is some sugar free smuckers syrup which is YUMMO!

Thanks for your help, ladies.

Why have I heard negative things about Splenda? Are there some negatives to using it???

Many people experience dizziness and other reactions to sucralose (Splenda). I personally use sugar, honey or Stevia to sweeten things (Stevia is an herb, available in powdered form, and is much sweeter than sugar *7/8tsp=1tsp of sugar).

DH is sweetener sensitive, so different kinds make him a bit sick to his tummy. DD and I aren't really sensitive to it.

Thanks for your input, ladies.

I'm trying to remove a lot of sugar from my diet, yet I don't really want to replace it with artificial sweeteners. I do tend to get sick from some of them.

I will look into the Stevia. Never heard of that one.

I don't like the idea of using sucralose, but I use so much sugar in tea...I ended up stumbling across Agave nectar sticks. Kind of like honey sticks.

We use Stevia and just love it. There are some things that I might put splenda in but over all its stevia for us. I even get the flavored ones to make "crystal light" type drinks.

I love the fact that it is all natural and full of vitamin C. You can find it at most organic webpages or stores.
