Last Sunday we started our Homestudy. We thought things went fairly well but DH forgot to mention something to our worker about an adolescent incident. Later that evening we were talking he remembered so I emailed her about the incident because we didn't want her to think we were hiding things from her especially since she would have found out eventually anyways. In her response she was quite abrupt in saying that without trust things wouldn't work...but yet we tried to be honest that's why I emailed her right away. This bothered dh & me alot so we decided to contact someone else to do our homestudy. Somebody who hopefully won't be as judgemental which we observed after the fact when we were were reviewing how things went.
I'm just wondering if any of you decided to switch home study workers?
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
I don't have experience with switching homestudy workers but if you're not comfortable you need to do what's best for you. Definitely go with your gut that's for sure. If you need to visit with this person for the next year + of you life you might as well have it be someone you trust and feel at ease with.
Best of luck

I agree with Lisa. This person will be an important part of your life and if they came off that way in an email I would have second thoughts too.
There is a caseworker who works in our county that we refuse to have anything to do with. She lied to us when she dropped off the little ones we fostered for three months and when my DH talked to her before the kids where moved she made some really hurtful things about our parenting skills that were not correct.
You have to be comfortable with them, and it wasn't like you kept it from her just forgot. Hmmmmmmm!!!
Good Luck with finding a new homestudy person.
Stacy

There are lots of SW out there...we had a small issue with ours once but it smoothed itself out and its becuz she just had too much on her plate in her personal life...We had to remember she had a fulltime job and then did Homestudy's on top of it...
So if you feel uncomfy now...then find someone you will be comfy with ... like said before you will be spending months if not years with this same person...we have been with ours for just about 4 years now !
Good luck !
Amy
