Unhappy swollen glands getting bad, spreading

Have done a lot of crying in the last 24 hours, which doesn't help.
My glands continue to remain swollen, spreading towards my thyroid, and deep in my right ear. It's all on the left side. Hurts when I swallow in my neck.
I was on an antibiotic, which didn't make any differece.
I am seeing the oncologist/hematologist tomorrow, not sure what to ask for, I know none of us are doctors, just throwing this out there, b/c I am scared, and not sure what to think.
I took a Naproxen last night, helped a little, but now under my left armpit, they're swelling up-just a little though.
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Would appreciate it a lot.
TIA

I don't have any idea what it is. Did your doctor suggest what it might be? They must have some idea to refer to you another doctor. Or a couple of ideas and they need to rule things out.

I guess I just wanted to let you know I saw your post & I hope the appointment goes ok. I'm sorry you're having to go through something like this.
hugs...

Thanks so much Chel - I just got back.
The appt. went ok. The doc wants to do a PET scan. Something about injecting me with sugar (?) to see all my lymph nodes to get to the source of what's going on. She is waiting to see if my insurance will cover it -most likely not - however, if they don't, she is going to do an MRI of my neck, thyroid, etc.., and an ultrasound of my underarms, where the nodes are swollen. I have had a few things ruled out, but still waiting for some ANA levels, as well as an ultrasound last week on my gallbladder, pancreas, and liver. After all this happens, both docs want to send me to an EENT.
Anyway, thanks for posting, I am being told to practice a lot of self care right now, something I am not used to, because I want to be superwoman and think I need to please my family. My head goes crazy trying to do everything at once. I have one more doc appt tomorrow, but that's with a nutritionist to basically talk about my eating which I'm doing with the IR diet, so not sure the point of that visit, she can't really do anything else about the swollen glands.

Have they tested for the Epstien Barr virus yet?

That is how my body reacted. I suffered for 8 months before the dr thought to test me for it. Just imagine feeling like you are fighting an ear infection and cold for 8 months! I was miserable!

Try a decongestant during the day and an antihistimine at night.
(Dayquil/Nightquil)

Sorry your sick,

Patty

Is that a 'Mono - Spot' test? She did that=negative.
She also did a sed rate=normal.
What tests did you have for the EBV? I think that's where the ANA test comes in? Weird it's not back yet, but the others came back, minus the u/s. hmm
wow. I'm so sorry it took 8 months of suffering - no fun at all. I can't take any of the antihistamines with that pseudephenephrine (sp?) my heart goes whacko, but thanks, maybe I can try to find something w/o that ingredient.

The ANA test will tell a lot. I had one recently (thankfully negative). It measures the levels of antibodies we have against our own body tissue. It will be positive if your immune system is attacking you. I think Epstein Bar comes under that banner, but so so many, many things. I feel for you.......the waiting game is sometimes the hardest to bare
