Has anyone ever had a swollen lymph gland in their necks.
I was in hospital for 12 hours yesterday whilst doctors tried to find out what was causing me so much pain and discomfort on the side of the neck.
I am on 2 kinds of anitbiotics now and strong pain killers.
was just wondering if people have this sort of thing and if the meds worked fro them to combat it?
Love

I am not sure I had swollen lymph nodes, but whenever I started clomid one side of my neck would have a hard lump in it and it would hurt to move my head and sometimes even to swollow.
I asked the Dr. about it, but he said it was not from the clomid, though it only ever happened during the time I took the clomid /shrug.
I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and even under one ear for about a month now. I thought it was from a weird reaction I had to Spiro. but i've been off it since 4/20 and their still swollen.
I went to the ER and they didnt even give me antbiotics. its wierd because somedays they are more swollen then the next day, do you have that problem?
Mine really aren't sore I just feel bad all over and tired all the time w/ no energy.
Hope you feel better soon
I had a swollen lymph node in my neck at the beginning of this year--I went to the doctor but he didn't give me any medicine. He told me that your lymph nodes can become swollen because they are trying to fight off an infection(but who knows what the infection is) and he told me that it could take a month or more for it to go down. Mine got bigger and then went back down after like a month and a half. Hope this helps some!
I have reaccuring swollen lymph nodes, sometimes they get so swollen that I cant even move my neck, i was told that same thing, body is trying to fight off infection, I have them under my jaw line too............

I had one come up out of the blue last year, right under my jaw line as well. It was in the centre, not off to the side like you usually get if you are sick. I had an u/s done, to make sure, and it was a lymph node. It took about 9 months to shrink back to normal.
It recently came back, and I've been having a lot of pain from it, in the area, as well as my ears. I'm currently just keeping on eye on it, but I am going to look into having it removed.
I know I have some sort of infection, because I've got canker sores in my mouth, I'm talking my inner lips, tongue, and just today I felt a couple bumps on the roof of my mouth. The same thing happened last year as well.

I had swollen lymph nodes in my stomach last year. It was probably the most painful thing I have ever been through. They didn't give me any antibiotics, just tons of pain meds. It took a few weeks to quit hurting enough to stop the pain meds. It hurt enough they had to hold me down while I was crying and fighting them to let me go. I've never experienced ANYTHING remotely like that before. I still don't know why that happened. I imagine that the ones in your neck can do the same thing. Hopefully it goes away soon. (((HUGS)))
Swollen lymph nodes are a potential health hazard. And it doesn't help that most doctors don't understand how the lymphatic system works, I've discovered! You DON'T have to live with swollen lymph nodes, or even take meds for it. Phone up a few reputable, licensed massage therapists and ask if they do lymphatic drainage. I get this done from time to time, especially in my neck area. My husband, who despises all things medical, even had it done (in the stomach area), and ran around the house the next day yelling that he felt like a million bucks! It doesn't hurt -- it just feels as though the therapist is stroking my skin -- but dh says it feels like a knife is being pulled across his skin.
Hope that helps!

I went through a period where the lymph nodes in my jaw, neck, underarms, and stomach were sore and swollen. I went to the dr., he said I'm fighting an infection and to keep an eye on them and call him if they didn't go down. They ended up going down, but every once in a while I feel them swell a little. I read about a lymphatic massage, but I don't know who does those around here. I would massage the areas myself and feel some relief, but I know a pro could do better.
My husband didn't know that his lymph nodes were swollen in his stomach, actually. He was getting treatment for whiplash (so am I). But the massage therapist noticed it, and pointed it out to him. I asked if I could feel it -- I didn't know you had lymph nodes in that area! She said sure, so she helped me find them. They (in that area, anyway) are right underneath your skin. She said that when they are swollen, they feel like tiny grains of sand right under your skin. I stroked his stomach -- using hardly any pressure -- and I could feel them! So she manipulated them very lightly with her fingertips to drain them.
As for me, the lymph node most swollen was located on the right side of my neck/throat. I also didn't know it was a lymph node: I thought it was a muscle knot from my whiplash. She said it was a node that was backed up, so she worked it gently until it felt normal again.
If you're interested in trying this, just call a few regular massage therapists to ask if they know how to do this. Apparently (in Canada, anyway), most of them do, as they are trained to understand the lymphatic system. They know more about it than doctors do (and my own doctor was the one who said that to me!).
Hope that helps!
