After a LOT of blood tests I was referred to a gynecologist as they thought I had PCOS. I went for a scan and a cyst was found but it went away on its own. I recently went for another scan to check for any more cysts and see if I had 'polycystic' ovaries and apparently I don't (internal ultrasound).
I'm wondering - if I don't have Polycystic ovaries then why do I have all these symptoms? And is it still likely that BC (Yaz) will help to get rid of the symptoms such as acne and excess hair? Thankyou! |
This sounds sort of like me, except I have regular periods. I had one cyst on each ovary on day 10 of 1 cycle, but they went away on their own by day 2 or 3 of the next. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS, but my RE can't rule it out, either. I have oily hair, oily skin, acne when I never had a problem as a teenager (I'm 31), and I'm shedding hair. The acne and hair problem started 3 years ago while I was still on Yasmin. I didn't stop Yasmin until 1 year ago. All that was indicated by my blood test was almost high fasting glucose. I'm so frustrated now because I don't think I ovulate very often (if ever?) I sympathize..... I really don't understand what my problem is. My sister was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. She could get pregnant but couldn't stay pregnant.
Did anyone actually diagnose you with PCOS?
I'm at the point now where I don't understand how anyone ever gets pregnant. I think anyone who thinks they might want to have kids in the next year or two should try OPKs and see if they work. If they do, great. If not, and you have any other symptoms, you might want to start getting checked out because this cra* takes a long time to sort out.
