When I was diagnosed 3 years ago, I realised that I had the symptoms a lot longer than that (much like PCOS).
I was always thirsty but always going to the bathroom. I had no energy and felt super-tired all the time. I had a yeast infection for 6 months that would not go away despite using every treatment known to man. My hands and feet would feel numb like pins and needles but it would not pass for hours. My eyesight was really deteriorating and I found it impossible to wear my contact lenses as they were so uncomfortable. In the mornings, other people at my work did not dare to speak to me in the mornings as I was the queen of the grouchs.
No matter what I ate, I was always hungry especially if I binged on carbs and sugary foods. I never felt full. I put on weight whether I tried to diet or not.
Looking back, it amazes me that I or my doctor did not connect the dots and realize that I had type 2 diabetes earlier.
Do you think that you are diabetic, jill? Do any of these symptoms seem familiar?
