Smile Symptoms- What are yours??

Hi everyone,

Please can you help/tell me where i can find a comprehensive list of PCOS symptoms?

I have been on lots of websites over the last few months and everyone i have been on gives different symptoms and states how many symptoms you need to have PCOS.

I have irregular periods- about every 83 days and have cysts on my ovaries. I've not yet been tested for IR but hope to be next month when i visit the gyne. I am a thin cyster, i am 5'7" and weigh about 10 stone wth a BMI of 22.2.

What are your symptoms??

Thanks you all for your help and advice

xx

ps i posted this a few days ago in the general forum but did not get a response.

i cant tell you where to get a full list, its hard cuz they still dont know alot about pcos to know exactly what is what with it. everyone seems to display different symptoms to different degrees and some have mild cases and some suffer terribly from all of them.
my specific symptoms are exhaustion, abnormal hair growth, inability to lose weight (although im trying different diets now), strange/random periods with months in between, acne, abdominal pain (for no reason, and not always considered a symptom it seems), a couple small cysts, lh/fsh levels, and im currently being tested for diabetes and cholestoral issues. will know more on that next week. apparently the symptoms are common for other ailments so make sure your doctor is thorough about tests and rules everything else out. hope that helps. take care!

I am in the same situation as Heather! Almost all the same symptoms! For years I was on the depo shot and thought that was why I didn't have a period come to find out I have a severe case of PCOS! I am also a thin cyster, but I gain a few pounds here and there and it seems harder and harder to get rid of it! Everyone's symptoms seem to vary. I can't seem to have a period at all without the help of drugs (from the dr of course lol!) With some help I am now pregnant and still have light cramps because of cyst still growing on my ovaries So I agree, let them test for everything, first then you can pretty well asssume its because of the pcos! Hope this helped a little.

My personal symptoms are Cystic Ovaries, Irrergular/no periods. When I do have my periods heavy bleeding and extreme cramping. Pregnant belly 24/7. No ovulation. Tired all the time, and my other side effects are caused by the meds i believe. I think there is a link with everyones symptoms. Symptoms vary from person to person. I just woke up im sorry i cant think of anything else atm lol. I will repost if i can. Oo, and my blood work is abnormal, My Lh to Fhs ration is 7:1 my testosterone is a little elevated, and i think that is all.

Hi - my only symptoms are irregular periods and cystic ovaries - and that seems enough to be diagnosed as pcos. I don't have any other "common" pcos symptoms either. Good luck with your next GYN visit!

My personal symptoms include irregular periods, ovarian cysts, abnormal hair growth and lack of sex drive. Occasionally I suffer from abdominal pain, but I don't know if that's related or not. I don't know where a comprehensive list is, I can't seem to find one either!

Here's a good list. It's from the US dept of health and human services.

Not all women with PCOS share the same symptoms. These are some of the symptoms of PCOS:
  • infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
  • infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating
  • increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes—a condition called hirsutism (HER-suh-tiz-um)
  • ovarian cysts
  • acne, oily skin, or dandruff
  • weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
  • insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
  • high cholesterol
  • high blood pressure
  • male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
  • patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
  • skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
  • pelvic pain
  • anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility
  • sleep apnea—excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep
Go to womenshealth dot gov and do a search for PCOS. Lots of good information.

Hi- Thanks for all your messages and advice.

I forgot so say my other symptom/issue was my blood work LH/FSH 3:1.

The website for womens health was very good and informative.

Thanks again
