Red face Synthroid 0.05 mg

I went and seen my new doctor today and she put me on Synthroid 0.05 mg.
She told me it would take a few weks before i would start to feel better, just knowing im going to start feeling better makes me feel better.
She also found that im Hypoglycemic and i have to control that with diet so i'll be researching that and finding all the info i can on it.
Does anybody else here take Synthroid? and how does it affect you?and how long did it take for you to start feeling better?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
Jackie

I'm on generic Synthroid (levothyroxine) 0.075mg. I was on 0.05 for almost ten years, but it was never a high enough dose until my new doctor raised it a few months ago. For me, anyway, there are no side effects whatsoever... it just lessens the symptoms of the hypothyroidism. I think it's one of the safest and most symptom-free drugs out there, as long as you're on the right dose. Too high a dose can cause heart palpitations, anxiety, and other problems. Honestly, I started it so long ago that I don't remember how long it took me to feel better, especially since my dose wasn't quite high enough. It shouldn't take too long, though.. just long enough for the synthetic hormone to start affecting your system.
Hope you feel better soon!

Default Hi Celeste

Thank you so much for replying, a friend of mine yesterday told me the first thing she noticed was her brain fog lifted after every e-mail i have to spell check and it's very annoying.
My doctor told me i didn't get hypothyroid overnight and I won't get better overnight,
As long as some of this weight come's off everything else can stay the same, I have gained 10 lbs in the past week and I feel horrible because my cloth's don't fit.
Im not 200 lbs yet but im real close and people that haven't seen me in awhile are horrified at my weight, oh well hopefully things will change.

Smile PCOS & Hypothyroidism

I have PCOS and was diagnosed last month with hypothyroidism. My doc put me on Sythroid (the lowest dose to start) and wanted me to up my dose of Metformin to 1500mg per day. Well, I had a really bad reaction to the mix of the two. It was like I had drank 50 pots of high test coffee. I really thought that I was losing it. I was up for most of the night and when I did manage to get some sleep, I had horrible nightmares. And let's add in that every noise was amplified to 10 along with paranoia. I had to take a day off of work because I couldn't function. I stopped the Metformin immediately!!!

I went to see the doc this week and she put me on Glumetza. So far, so good. She told me that the side effects that I experienced were not typical with the Metformin/Synthroid mix. I realize that trying to tweak your med's for these issues can be trying. But that was just not cool. I hope that no one else experiences that.

I have had no bad side effects at all with the Synthroid alone. But I have had some good ones!! The brain fog has gotten so much better. I can actually function like I used to. It's taken some time, but I am starting to get back to my old self.

My friends have noticed that I am happy again. They haven't seen that in me in a long, long time. And on top of everything else, I turned 40 last week. Things are just getting so much better.

I am over 200 lbs and only 5' tall. I am working on the weight thing, but I am not going to let it take over my life. Your true friends will love you for who you are and not what you look like. Take care and it will get better!!!!!

My dr recently started me on .075mg of Levothyroxine. I was concerned about the Met/Levo mix because in the pamphlet they gave me with the Levo it said something like "tell your doctor if you take any of the following medications" and Met was one of them, but I haven't had any problems with the combo at all. I was very borderline hypothyroid so my symptoms weren't horrible, but I do feel like my mental spaciness has gotten better. That's about the only reaction I've had to the medicine. I've had no side effects at all except possibly my heart beating more quickly when I exercise than normal... I can't tell if that's in my head (I'm a terrible hypochonriac) or b/c I'm on too high a dose, though.

I have a low-level thyroid problem and I take Synthroid also, 75 mcg. To be honest I haven't noticed any changes yet. My Dr switched me from Levoxyl, which gave me major headaches, a month ago. I went for a full panel of bloodwork last week so I call in tomorrow to see if the Synthroid needs to be increased.
