i'm not hypothyroid, but my mother and other women in my family are. recently i've begun having symptoms that are similar to hypothyroid - i'm extremely cold all the time where i'm shivering and have to sit by the heater, and i'm really tired all the time. i've also gained some weight - but not a lot. i told my endo, and she said that she'd let me try synthroid (0.025 mg). i think it's helped - i feel less cold and more alert....
however, i've read that it can cause or make facial hair worse, because it raises androgen levels. this freaked me out! i also take birth control and spironolactone to help control this problem, and i'm not about to have synthroid set me back. am i misinformed? can synthroid actually cause these side effects?
