Hi Ladies! I've been taking Synthroid for about a week and a half now and I have lost two pounds thanks to a reduction in my appetite. I am NOT, by any means, complaining... just curious to find out if anyone else has experienced this?? It's great to not feel so darn tired and hungry all the time... maybe I am just now normal??? Thanks for your input...

Julie,
I have just started Synthroid at .150 as well. I'm at 230 goal of 160 and 5'5". The info said it would take 3 weeks to notice but i have noticed a dramatic increase in my energy level even borderline hyper. I haven't noticed much decrease in appotite but i usually don't eat much except when i'm bored anyways.
Keep me informed on how your doing! Ashley
Ashley - I read your post in the other thread about your experience with Synthroid. I'm sorry if I'm butting in, but if you are experiencing hypo symptoms, you should tell your doctor. From what I know, it isn't safe to go the other direction.
For reference: I weigh a good 30 lbs more than you, my TSH was 112, and my doc started me at 100 for a week and then to 150mcg. It did take 4-6 weeks to feel better and I think it's supposed to. It takes a while to rebuild your body's store of thyroxine... sounds like your dose may be a bit high.
Sorry, I'm an armchair endo.

Your not butting in at all...I'll take all the info I can get! :-)
I agree with you, i think my dosage may be a bit high just because I've had more energy in the past week than I ever have in my life. I'm really enjoying it for now. I am to return to my Dr in a month and a half to get more blood work to check my levels. I'm sure that he will reduce it, if the blood work comes back too low.
I appreciate the info, too... it's very helpful. I have learned that you can 'burn out' your Thyroid gland with too much Synthroid and that is, obviously, not good either. The Synthroid has helped me feel the calmest and happiest I've felt in years so it must have been a problem for me for awhile. I don't feel hyper, just full of energy like I used to feel when I was younger (and didn't have young children ) It has completely wiped out my anxiety and depression to the point that I feel confident in weaning off of Paxil. Too bad it can't get rid of my Paxil withdrawals... blech! Thanks for the 'heads up'! It is much appreciated!
