Generics are sometimes made differently that name brand prescriptions. They can be more compacted, which can make it harder to disolve, thus the patient doesn't get the correct dosage. Once you start taking one you should stick with it, it makes it easier when you get a new prescription and if your dose needs to be adjusted. So all in all, your friend's doctor was correct!
