Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and must say that I'm glad there's a forum, such as this one, where people can express concerns, ask questions about certain issues and receive advice from more than one person. I'm hoping someone has advice for me concerning a minor dilemma I'm experiencing.
A few days ago I attempted to have an Upper Endoscopy done, no cigar. I was told that my physician wasn't able to perform the procedure because I kept pulling the tube out. I don't recall conciously experiencing any pain but something was occurring, or shall I say wasn't occurring that caused me to continuously pull the tube out. Mind you, I've had this procedure done several times with sedation and never had any problem. My physician told my husband that he opted to cease with the procedure because I had already been given the maximum dosage of medication allowed and he didn't want to wear me out due to me constantly fighting him in my sleep. He rescheduled my procedure but this time he wants me under anasthesia. The idea of me being sedated creeps me out enough and now I have to be put completely asleep, needless to say, I'm freaking out so much that I'm considering not having the procedure done at all. I'm scheduled for next Friday and unless I can get the guts before then, I don't see it occurring.
Does anyone have any advice or suggetions for me? I will greatly appreciate all replies.

i have had this test done, and i wasnt fully out, and i did not like it one bit, i did fight as well, and i also grabbed the poor doctors Balls!!! and i dont think he was happy with that LOL.....but my fiance had it done and was out cold for it and it went well, Have you ever been out for a procedure before? although it sounds scary, you will be ok, and will wake up less distressed, more relaxed, and it will let the doctor do what he needs to and make sure to see what your problem may be , just try and relax, get a good nights sleep the night before....bring people with you for support, practice deep breathing while your there waiting for your procedure.....the nurses are all around you when you wake up, so your not alone!!! i hope all goes well for you, good luck and kup!!!

I have never had this procedure done but I just had a lap done last week where I was put completely under, I was also nervous about being put to sleep. I had no complications though it was all kinda odd, the antestesiologist was talking one minute and then then next thing i remember was being in recovery lol I wsa very tired afterwards and had some nausea after but it passed in a few hours. Good Luck with what ever you decide!!
