Take Provera every 2 months...would you take a HPT before starting?

I take provera 10 pills for 10days every 2 months or so. It never fails, on the 12th day AF is here.
I am so convinced that I can not get PG on my own that do not take a HPT before taking provera. Is this a dumb thing to do?

I am also in my 3rd month of Metformin. No period from the MET. So I took provera and it's now the 12 day and no AF.

Could being on antiboitics when taking provera effect the provera?

You should always test before taking provera. I would take an HPT now, usually AF should come within 14 days of taking your last pill.

Provera actually somehow made me ovulate and it is how I got pregnant with my second daughter. I took it and over 14 days later, no AF. I took an HPT and sure enough I was pregnant.

I didn't get regular cycles and somehow got pregnant with my first two babies without any real intervention. So it can happen.

For sure take a test BEFORE using Provera. It is a synthetic Progestin and if taken in early PG can cause problems and M/C.

I had a lady on my TTC board on PW who took it while she was PG and had no idea. And she lost her baby at 9 wks. It was probably due to the provera her RE said. So dont risk it.

AF came today. Thank goodness. That's the last time I not take a HPT before provera!
