Thumbs down taking BC continuously, w/o Placebo?

Are any of you on BC continuously without placebo? My endo instructed me to take in everyday, skipping the sugar pills. This is difficult becuase although i have stopped have regular periods, i have spotting. uhg. They said its not medically necessary to have them monthly... hmmm is this true? I know YAZ you have them... what 4 times a year?? Anyway, im currently on Glumetza, Spiro and Ziovia

Seasonale/Seasonique and its generic forms are the one that give you 4 periods a year.

While on BCPs, it's not medically necessary to have them. When not on some from of hormonal BC, it is.

Anyway, that's really the only problem with taking them continuously, is spotting. I tried it with Apri and ended up switching to Seasonale, which stopped the spotting.

I think that the spotting should go away in a couple months, but I'm not positive because I've never done this myself.

When I was on Diane/Estelle I would only have the sugar pills once every 3 months. My periods were really heavy and I was worried about my iron and it was just genearally annoying! I asked the doc about it and she said it was fine as long as I gave myself a break and had a period every 3 months.
Now I'm on Norimin and my periods aren't so heavy so I have one every month.
How long have you been on your current BCP? It may take a few months before things settle down and the spotting subsides.

I took seaonique for a few months last year and HATED IT. I kept spotting for over a month, and I got my period despite taking the active pills. Not only that, it caused incredible cramps. I don't know if I was supposed to keep taking it anyway - and let it balance out - but I wasn't about to stay around for that!
