Default Taking Birth Control and METFORMIN 850 MG and absent period

HI I'm 19 was diagnosed with PCOS like 2 years aog but didn't start treatment until like one year ago.. I started taking birth-control and that regulated because I was taking the pill. I was on that for a while and then I went off of it because of some unknown reason. Then I later went back on birth control and then the doctor prescribed Metformin 500 mg... for awhile.. everthing went well on that no sickness or anything then he highered it to 850 mg and I had diarrhea for like a month straight.. I got sick of it and went off of it... I was still on birth control and everything and was waiting for my period to come for September month.. Well it never did come and I was freaking out because I was sexually active for the first time in my life.. When I was seven days late I took some home pregnancy test and they were all negative... So I waited a lil while longer and went to the doctor for a pregnancy test and that also came out negative... I stopped taking my birth control for the next month because it obvisouly didn't bring my period like it was suppose to..
So what should I do now? Should I call my doctor and tell him what's up or what? or should I start taking my birth control for the next month and hopefully get a period..

Your advice would be great!

I don't know why but sometimes you will skip a bleed on BCPs. I didn't get a bleed when I finished my first pack of Desogen many years ago... I was in college and I went to student health for a pregnancy test and it was neg. They told me just to start the next pack on time and not to worry about it. Then it happened again years later on Yasmin and I just chalked it up to a fluke and started the next pack on time. For some reason 2 days later I decided to test and it was +++. It's *possible* you are pregnant, you could have ovulated late in the pack and just aren't able to get a +++ yet. But it's also possible it's just a fluke.

As for starting the next pack of BCP - I would first of all test again just to be sure you aren't pregnant now. Then if it is negative you can

- Wait for AF to show, start BCP accordingly, use back-up protection in the meantime
- Call your doctor and get a script for something to induce your period (Provera or Prometrium), start BCP accordingly, use back-up in the meantime (I would go this route if your periods tend to be few and far between, as mine are)
- Just start BCP any time (making sure you test first!) and use back-up protection the first month on the pill. When I got pregnant on Yasmin I had just started it without having a period and ovulated early into the pack.

It all has to do with hormones. 850mg of Met. is pretty low and I understand why your Dr. started you out so low because you're still young. What kind of BC pill where you taking? I'm willing to bet that's a pretty low dose too. It might be a slow go, but follow your Dr.'s directions and give it some time. It can take a few months for your hormones to reguate, and when they do, your periods will too. In the mean time, enjoy it while you can!
