Default Taking clomid even if your able to get pregnant on your own?

I go to another forum and there are quit a few ladies on there taking clomid even though they have regular cycles and O on their own and some even 'brag' because their doctors hand out clomid like candy. Is this good/safe? Its like clmoid is the 'in' thing around there.

I'm just wondering because I have TTC nearly 2 years before my doctor would put me on clomid, he wanted to make sure I wasn't Oing before he would let me try something, because he said it could do more harm than good. Now i'm wondering why did he make me wait so long when women are getting it from their doctors just because they don't want to wait around to get pregnant, they think it will help then conceive faster, even though they have no problems getting pregnant, or in some cases, they want to increase their chance for twins.

Now I feel kinda angry at my dr for making me wait so long. Maybe I should have went to another dr that would have given it to me without making me wait so long and go through so many test. Ugh, I guess I'm just frustrated today. I just want to get pregnant so bad.

So whats everyones opinion on this? Is clomid safe or as effective even if your working 'normal'?
