Default taking Clomid late in your cycle - who was it?

I remember reading about a month ago about someone's dr putting them on clomid w/o first inducing AF. If I remember correctly, they were on like cd 50+. Does anyone remember who that was? I was wondering how that worked for them? I have one more cycle of letrazole before my gyn is making me see a specialist - she will not increase my dose (from 2.5mg) or anything. I want to try the same thing with the letrazole if this cyster had favorable results.

It appeared I O'd on the first letrazole cycle but this month, my temps are nearly flatlined. If anyone knows who I'm talking about, would you let me know so I can PM her? Thanks!

It wasn't me.

But I know I read something once about whether or not you really need to have a period before starting clomid. I'm thinking that people can and do have freak ovulations during long cycles that go on to be successful pregnancies... I did, with my son. He was like a day 46 egg or something like that and FWIW he turned out a lot better than my other pregnancies which were with day 28 and day 14 eggs.

Anyway I tried to google what I read about this - this is the same article but this is not where I originally read it.

So you don't need to have a period... but there are reasons to consider doing so.

Personally I would think inducing a period could up your chances - the 2 week or so progesterone phase would quiet any folluciular development, and those follies could be doing weird hormone things and all, inhibit ovulation and so forth. But if you know you're not pregnant and you don't want to induce AF, there's probably no harm in just going ahead. I guess one of two things would happen... either you won't get pregnant, or you'll get pregnant with a baby who has to live in a not-so-fresh lining. But, at the end of any pregnancy, the lining is 9 months old anyway, so what's a few more weeks?

Like I said, my son turned out OK and he got an old lining.

Headyfeady3-took clomid later in her cycle, not as late as day 50, but none the less still later.

Wasn't me but, I took Clomid without inducing AF first. My RE gave me Provera but it didn't work. She went ahead and had me take Clomid anyway to see what happens basically. I went back this past weekend and I have 2 large follicles and she was confident that I will O. Right now we are just waiting for that temp spike!

I didnt take clomid that late in my cycle but I did take it about a week after I was supposed too. I still have a good O. Didnt get a BFP but still did O. Maybe you should think about taking soy if you are really late in your cycle. My opinion is that it is your body and if you know that you didnt O and you want to just move on then why not take the other dose. I had good results with taking it late. HTH

Thanks ladies,

I'm on cd 30 and there's no way I O'd...my temp is a complete flatline. I guess I feel like it's worth a shot because this IS the *last* shot. From here, we need to save money for the Gonal and RE bills. It could be a while. Thanks so much for your imput. I'm going to try it and i'll let you know what happens
