I saw a research article that Kat released on SC and it spoke of starting on met slowly with 500mg at breakfast or dinner, while working up to 2x 500mg at breakfast and 2x 500mg at dinnertime. I was told by my ENDO back home to take 1000mg at bedtime.........after 6 months and 50lbs more bloated and trots all the time, I finally broke and took myself off because it didn't seem to be working for me.
My question is, will the outcome come out different now if I start again, working my way up...while eating at breakfast or dinnertime?? Could there truely be a reason why I was so miserable for 6 months while most dwindle after 6-8 weeks??

I'm not sure...hopefully someone will know the answer. I just wanted to say that I've been on it for 6 months and am still miserable. I've tried every combination of dosages and times that I can think of and no luck yet. Maybe there is an answer though, who knows. Good question!

SH, before I was on Gluc, I was on actos, and felt great...I also lost weight ......I'm thinking I just may get back on Actos and see what happens...thing is though, I'm ttc, so I'd have to get right off it after conception.....I'm still researching everything though.
you may want to try Actos!!

Ladies, not sure this will help, as met gives me little trouble, but the only times I had the runs was after I had a lot of sugary foods right after taking the met.
To avoid the side effects (hopefully sleep through the worst) many docs recommend you take the largest dose at night.
Becky, if you were on 1000mg of the regular (not the XR) glucophage and , it would have still been best to take one pill with lunch and one with dinner (mid-meal), side-effects wise.
However, the XR can be taken all at once, as it is released gradually and it is gentler on your gastro-intestinal system.
So, if you were on the XR, than 1000mg with dinner sounds good, and avoid sugary and overly fatty foods.
Good luck if you try it again!
