Question Taking Vitex Long-Term?

Hello,

I'm interested in Vitex and wonder if anyone can advise how long you can take it safely? I've read that 1 year is the max, is that true? I'm currently not ttc, and want to use it to bring on AF. If anyone has some answers, I'd appreciate it!

Be well,
NJCyster

depends on what you mean by long term...

I took it for 9 months and then during a very hectic summer last year, forgot to take it. after summer, I started back on it on a higher dose, and it didn't work so I stopped. After a while I made the dosage conection, and started back on a lower dose of it. I ended up getting pregnant the first of the year, but miscarried right away, so again, out of the habbit of taking it. Then about two weeks ago I started taking a low dose again. Seems to have kicked in right away.

One thing I've read, but cant' confirm, except that I was haveing the vibes anyway, was that you shouldn't take vitex and us NP cream together. I was and it was probably not the best idea. I stopped the NPC right before I read that.

hope it helps atleast a little...

jp,

Thanks for your info, but I am still wondering if the vitex is safe to take for a long period of time without a rest from it...

I'm currently taking Prometrium (natural progesterone in pill form) and yes, like you found w/NPC, my dr said not to take both at the same time.

Be well,

Don't worry NJCyster, vitex can be safely taken for 18 months.
