I don't know if there's a link between teeth grinding and PCOS....but I also grind and clench my teeth. I have many problems with my teeth, but I think I got that from my dad. My sis also has PCOS and has great teeth....like my mom. Wish I could be of more help!

I grind my teeth and have lots of other teeth problems, but it's always been attributed to other sources. First of all, when I was younger, I was given some medicine that is now known to stunt the growth of growing teeth (makes the enamel soft). I also have fibromyalgia, and many people with fibro have problems with grinding their teeth and other teeth problems. I have a mouth guard that I wear at night that helps SOOO much. Unfortunately, many insurance companies don't cover them, but usually dentists let you pay for them a bit at a time. They're totally worth it. If I don't wear mine, I get headaches and I can barely open my mouth to eat.

I have no idea if it has anything to do with PCOS, but I haven't heard anything about it. If you're having mouth problems, you might just have a separate mouth problem that's causing all of the teeth things. Do you have a really dry mouth? That can lead to problems. Talk to your dentist. I know it's not fun, but in the long run it helps! Good luck!

-Dances

P.S. glowingpurpleaura, after I originally posted this, I was reading through some other messages and I saw that you have fibromyalgia too. That can totally cause mouth problems in some fibro people. A lot of us have abnormally dry mouths which can lead to tooth decay, and many of us grind our teeth, etc. PM me if you like and I can give you some suggestions...I would still suggest seeing your dentist if your having problems. :-)

I grind and clench my teeth all the time. To the point I dont even realize that I am doing it. And then I will think, my temples feel tense, frig I am clenching the teeth again. Maybe we think to much.

Default I too am a teeth grinder

I have woken up in the middle of the night feeling myself grinding my teeth. I don't have fibromyalgia but I do have stress at times.

Stress is also a major factor in teeth grinding. I asked my Dentist about it a long time ago when it was really bothering me. He told me that he could fit me for a mouth guard or for times that I am really stressed he suggested using a mouth guard that sports players wear.

I have never done either one, I got my stress under control and haven't had the problem since.

Just a suggestion.

Lana

I grind my teeth too. I wear a sports guard that you fit to your mouth, so not to hurt my teeth anymore.

I grind my teeth and clench them all the time. I think it is a stress thing although I suffer with insomnia (possibly because of PCOS) and I know when I going through restless nights I am more prone to grind my teeth, so that is kinda of attibuted to PCOS. However since my dx, I am careful not to put everything down to PCOS or meds as I think you still need to be aware what your body is saying and Unfortunatley Mother Nature can plie you up with more than just ONE condition, unfair ... but true.

Yeah i got a mouth guard thing but couldnt sleep with it in id either get fed up and take it out (though i only did this for a few weeks before stopping myself from doing it) but most of the times i would spit it out while i was asleep!!! If i did manage it keep it in it was cause i kept waking me up and i kept making myself keep in it so i ended up a very sleepy person!!!

Did you fit your mouth guard?

That helped me keep it in. I have not spit it out in my sleep in months.
