Hi,
I'm so glad I found this board!' I've got tons of questions, trying to find out the best way to stimulate my O:
I've got the ídea that the standard PCOS treatment (Clomid later Menopur injections) is sometimes not the best option for thin PCOS-ers
For me, Clomid doesn't do a thing. I've read some literature: it seems to work better for overweighted.
I'm desperate to know what seemed to wordt best for you all,to stimulate Ovulation.
I haven't O ed since may!
What I think now is trying Metformin. But My doctor sais it ususaly works better for overweighted females as well. He wants me to start with Menopur (FSH) injections. I'm no so sure. What about an LHRH pump? any experiences on that? And has anyone tried to stop eating sugar?
As you see, any help is so welcome! I'm getting desperate!
(oh, and sorry for my english, I'm obviously not a native!)
Love
Twinkel
Hi Twinkel.
I'm not sure if I can be much help but I wanted to welcome you. Metformin may work for you. My RE started me on it even though I ovulate on my own. Menopur can also work to stimulate your ovaries. Just a little tip-put some ice on the area where you plan on giving yourself the shot for a few minutes before injecting. The menopur leaves a stinging/itching feeling where you inject it and the ice helps a little. Good luck

Thanx,
That's some realy helpfull practical advise!
Next wednsday I ll speak to my Gyn , trying to convince him to stop the Clomid, and try something new. I'm gonna ask his opinion on Menopure, end metformin.
Any more tips??

Hi Twinkle! I am not overweight, and when we were trying to get pg with our daughter, I tried Clomid for four months with no luck also. THen my OB told me that Metformin was shown to help women ovulate, even those who were not insulin resistent. So I tried it (along with Clomid) and got pg that month! So it may work for you! Good luck!

Hi.
I took Metformin for over a year and it made me ovulate and have a regular AF. I'm pregnant now due to Met.
I'm a thin sister and Met worked for me. As well as many other thin cysters.
Good luck to you.

Thank you all for your replies! It realy helps!
I just came from my doctor. He suggested to try Clomid and metformin if 150 mg of Clomid proves not to work. I'm very happy with that, becouse metformin for ovulation induction is not the common regime here in the Netherlands.
Also he suggested LEO. (I'm not sure wether thas the correct englisch term, bust it's the laproscopic operation, in which tey 'burn'small holes in the cystes on your ovaries). Any experiences with that anyone?
Also, tomorrów I'll have the Glucose tollerance test.
My doctor is quite surprised about me being so well informed. Thanks to you and this board!!
Bye,
Twinkel

Hi,
I am new to the board. I was diagnosed today with PCOS and was totally confused as I do not have any symptoms except the absence of AF. I am thin (probably underweight) 5'8" 106 lbs and have no acne and never have. No excess hair either. I went of bcp (after being on it for 10 yrs) in August to TTC with my DH. I haven't had AF since then. My dr. gave me provera to bring on AF and then I was supposed to take Chlomid once my cycle started. The provera didn't work so I couldn't take the Chlomid. Now she wants me to go to a fertility expert. What can he do differently to bring on AF? Does anyone know why you have to take the Chlomid after AF - she checked my uterine lining and it isn't too thick. Sorry - just really confused. Thanks!
Hi KS1543. If Provera didn't stimulate AF, you may not actually have the right diagnosis. How was your diagnosis of PCOS made? When I went to the dr for no AF, she gave me Provera, which worked, but she said if it didn't work, then it could be premature ovarian failure. I think you do need to see a reproductive endocrinologist to make sure you have the right diagnosis, and then go from there. Good luck!

I persoanlly believe you are underweight. I am 5'7/8" and weight 135lbs. Since December I ahve been putting on wight and my AF is not only coming but its getting closer to 28, actually in december it was as short as 26. Let the doc check your thyroid, because you can be a hyper or a hypothyriod, which can affect your AF.
Just my two cents. I think by losing or putting on weight can do alot for your body. If you dont have enough body fat you sometime dont get AF because estrogen come from your body fat.
I recommed buying TCOYF book, i just got mine and it is really helpful.
