RE:Should I have test done or just start taking?

Okay I just called the doctors office and asked to have test done before starting met/gluc. When I went into the office to pick up the Lab orders I was able to stop and talk to the doc herself. These are the test that she ordered:

Liver test
Fasting Blood Sugar and Insulin
Testostorone

I asked her about doing a Kidney test and she said that as far as she knows that Met/gluc only effects the liver. If this is wrong please let me know and I will call back in there before having the test ran in the morning. Or can have that ran at a later date.

I also asked about LH:FSH Ratio and she said that this was basically used just to see if I had PCOS and she knows that I do so she really didn't see a point of doing it.

Also asked about HbA1c and she said that if I had diabetes then I would have HbA1c ran. But until then it is not needed.

What do you all think?

My doctor runs both liver & kidney labs because both can be risk factors for Lactic Acidosis, but I guess that is up the discretion of the Dr.

FSH: LH ratio is a diagnostic tool for diagnosis, but if your FSH:LH was part of the reason you are being put on Met, then they should get a beginning reading so that they can see if that value is improving. Otherwise, it's not neccessary.
