I have my face and arms done and you would think after over 75-100 treatments I would be finished but I am not even close. Has anyone had this problem or has anyone had very good success? I wonder if the clinic I go to has a out of date laser. Are there more advanced lasers that I could be using? Hmmm? Please help!!???
I will tell you what I know (as a really hairy chick). I have been seeing an electrologist (someone who conducts electrolysis) for years now and she told me that the laser people still cannot guarantee permanency and that electrolysis is still the only way that can guarantee, in most cases, permanent hair removal. I went to her to have my sideburns and upper lip done and now, 2-3 years on, I have no regrowth (and any I do get is very fine, like a baby's bottom). We're talking about some serious whisker hairs here: my sideburn hairs looked like POOBES before, all long, thick and wiry, and now they just don't exist... in fact, the whole sideburn region looks lighter than my cheeks because no hair has come back (and the cheeks have a downy covering of light hairs themselves). I will soon be going back to this amazing woman to have my nipples and belly hair done. It takes about 2-3 treatments for each hair, depending on the strength of the follicle. But I know this much: it is the only proven way of reversing the strength of the follicle so that it goes back to producing thinner, lighter hairs.

I trust this lady because she's also a family friend and just really a top person who also used electro herself. She actually uses a combination of electrolysis and thermolysis, which is not that common anymore but more effective. The usual fee is a dollar per minute although sometimes it can be less after a lengthy session. So it doesn't have to be costly because you can pay for as many minutes as you can afford and leave the rest for another week!!!

I would try to find an electrologist you can trust and work out a plan. I'm telling you, you won't regret it! Just make sure they know what they're doing, don't let them put the current up too high and be sure they're accredited because if they don't know what they're doing they can leave you with scarring...

All the best, I hope whatever you decide, it will bring you the results you most desire.

And remember, don't feel sad or hopeless about your situation, there is always HOPE! I had given up on ever wearing my hair up again, so monkey-like was my face... and right when I least expected it I found this woman and she turned out to be an angel! She is now my therapist as well as my electrologist and I've never felt more positive!

Never give up on your beautiful, feminine self, she's under there waiting for you to bring her out!!!

HUGS to you honey! XXX

Thank you for this information about testosterone. It would be interesting to see further studies about the relationship between testosterone and PCOS, and if any other factors come into play with hair follicles (not just testosterone).

I'm dealing with the same problem... Now, I had laser but had to stop before the end of the 6 session. I had good results, but not long lasting results... I want to start treatment again, but wonder if electrolysis, could be really that efficient and without leaving any scars... The laser treatment help me with the fairs and clearing the face actually...

It's worth a try. In the end it's all down to the person you're seeing and how good they are at what they do. Why not do some research or ask friends if they're seeing anyone they're happy with?

Thank you very much for all the information. I have been having disturbing hair loss and I really thought that my hormone levels aren't normal. But I was surprised to find out that everything is normal except for my insulin resistance. I have to go back to my doctor again, and I'm really glad I found a lot of data here. Thank!

Thanks for the info..I have been dealing w/ hair loss (very little facial hair growth, thank goodness), for a few months now, and it is driving me crazy..I have to have my friend cut my hair, as it is just too awful for words..Probably in to a bob. My hair used to be really thick, and now there really isn't much left. Sad, really...I am interested in the Nizoral shampoo..I really don't want to be taking more meds, as I am on a few already, and I don't want to put more into my system. I also am sort of TTC, so I don't want to be taking such harmful drugs.
