As far as I know and I'm also pretty new to this but I do know that the testosterone level on my test was a little elevated but, I don't think that tells you the severity of your pcos just helps the to know you have it. When I told myfamily about pcos and how you produce more of a male hormone my brother says to me, "Well thats great I always wanted a brother"! Write back if you'd like.

Do you know what your testorone level is? I had mine checked a week ago and it was 97. Thanks for responding to my thread. Now I am constantly worried about my voice. I am worried that I might sound like a man. Everyone tells me I don't. I am on the phone all the time at work and no one has called me sir. But I have a friend that has pcos and you cant tell when you talk to her on the phone if she is a man or a woman.
I'm not sure what scale your testosterone has been measured on (seems like the worldwide standard outside of New Zealand where I am :S )
But average women on the scale my bound testosterone levels were taken at as 0-2.5 (4 years ago, mine were '4', towards the end of last year, they were '7.2' and I don't know what i've done recently but now they're down to '3'). Could possibly be free testosterone (upper limit of the scale is 58 i think?, 4 years ago I was around 127, am now between 70-80).
Don't worry too much about your voice. It'd have to be a helluva lot of testosterone to affect it that much - if that '97' score is free testosterone, then I've had much worse and my voice still sounds fine

As far as I know, just because you have PCOS doesn't mean that you have cysts. My doctor explained me that the term "PCOS" is just a misnomer most of the time. It's really more hormonal than anything else..However, it is possible to have cycts.

There's a lot of overlap between women and men anyway when it comes to voice -- as when it comes to facial hair. Most women's voices drop at menopause anyway. Any elocution teacher will explain how to sound more "female" (or for that matter, more "male"). There's a whole lot more to it than pitch.
HI!! If you go to the forum articles 4 PCOS, there's a sticky that is labled required reading.. it has alot of answers... it's kinda lengthy, but well worth it.
