Default testosterone, progesterone, estrogen

I am so confused. Someone please exlain:

-role of testosterone
-role of progesterone
-role of estrogen

as it relates to menstruation/ovulating?? Please?

I was on BCP for a long time. I decided to stop (skin, headaches/migraines) about 6 mo ago and I feel a lot better (my skin-including rosacea! is much better, I went down a full cup size-which I feel is a good thing, for me). However I've had 2 courses of provera that have failed to induce a period in 6mo as well. I've been told this means that my E is low, so they are starting me on low dose estrogen therapy.

Yet 4 months ago at my usual blood work check, my T was actually on the low side (I take .5mg of Propecia and 50mg Sprio to reduce T, control acne and body hair issues--seems to be working really well...).

I am so confused.

The GYN said "you need estrogen your estrogen is low" but then also was talking about using an IUD like Mirena...I thought that was just progesterone??

*ANY* info would be helpful.

Moderators and Admins-I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section--i was really unsure where to put it. Please, let me know if there was a better place to post my question.

Thanks

Well, I'm bumping this for ya Although I have no experience with hormone therapy I think I have read a couple of times that you should not get estrogen without progesterone. In a normal cycle the first part is dominated by estrogen and the second by progesterone. You really need both, and my guess is that if you were given only estrogen that you would encounter problems in the progesterone department. But like I said: I'm not an expert in this area, so hopefully someone who is will read your post and give a better explanation. Hope this helps a little!
