Some Dr's just aren't on the ball with running the tests...you can't tell without labwork if you are at risk for any problems, so if I were in your shoes, I would go back to my physician and ask him to order that labwork. It would be unlikely anything negative would show up, but in order to take the drug with peace of mind, I would still do it. In the odd event that you had an abnormal liver or kiodney reading, it could be beneficial for you to address that first. Plus it is helpful to know where your B12, iron, insulin etc look before taking the meds in order to get a baseline reading. You won't know if your hormones are improving unless you know where you started.
Good luck!
