Default Which tests to ask for?

I am at a loss as to which thyroid tests to ask my Gyn for. I called her office a few weeks ago asking about tesing for hypothyroid and she wanted to know why. Well for starters have PCOS and though I have most of my symptoms under control (weight, acne, etc) I still have pretty long cycles and ovulate late and had a 3rd trimester loss, so I figured I have good reasons to ask for the test.

I am not too keen on Western medicine for PCOS to begin with (given Metformin, BCPs, Clomid, etc never worked for me), but I want to ask her again for the tests with all of my information on hand so I will seem like I know what I'm taking about.

Which tests should I specifically ask for?

TIA!

Hi

Here is the site for a self assessment: http://www.thyroidpower.com/

Basic tests for thyroid:

T-4 Panel, T-3 Panel (both to include Free T-4 and T-3), thyroid antibodies, TSH, TBG, LH

You can also see yourself if you are hypo by doing the Basal Temp Test:
I take my temperature under my arm first thing upon waking for 3 days in a row and write it down. I have read recently that this is much more accurate than the blood tests (target range being 97.8 to 98.2),
See: http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles...-basaltemp.htm

I hope this helps
