Question Tetracycline 250mg

Hello Ladies,

I just went to go see my new doctor today. FINALLy someone who would acknowledge my problem. For about four years now I've had horrible acne/boils on my underarms and it leaves terrible scarring. If you don't think this is a big deal imagine walking around with bleeding underarms with a white t-shirt or a halter-top with all your acne scars showing everytime you reach up to grab something from the top shelf. Of course i also have acne on my face (comes and goes) and on my vulva (acne/boils).

She told me I probably get the acne from the PCOS and excess of testerone levels. So she prescribed Tetracycline.

I've been reading up on this and the side effects are cramps, diarrhea and an extra sensitivity to light (and it so happens i'm leaving for hawaii in four wks-go figure).

Has anyone every used this drug? What was your experience like?

I used it as a teenager and remember getting horrible sunburns. I didn't notice any change in acne. The only time I noticed change was when I started BCP - orthonovem 150 and now orthonovem 777. Also, my husband has ulcerative colitis - horrbile digestive problem - and research shows that taking tetracycline for long periods may be the cause. He too was on it in high school.

I was on it and it helped a bit. I remember i would get burned easily, and I never really get burned. i ended up using actutane.
