Default Thankful to have found my doctor!

I have finally found a doctor that is taking my symptoms seriously and is trying to help get my PCOS under control! I am also thankful for the strength that I got from somewhere to be able to deal with PCOS and all that it entails day in and day out!

congratulations! wish I could say the same for myself. All the doctors I've ever seen haven't been that helpful. All the advice I've been given is to "lose weight, and if I stay slim and thin, I won't have to be on BCPs (which I went off of anyway because they put me in the pit of depression) and my symptoms will be reversed." True, weight loss does reverse symptoms, but it's having no effect on my cycles (they come way too often so I'm on Provera once a month) and no effect on my mood.

I too have been fortunate to find a doctor that takes me seriously, even though I found him long before I was diagnosed PCOS. And once I was, he reassured me that he would be there with me through it all. Even informed me that I wouldn't have to be transferred to a RE because it was also his department.
I was diagnosed Valentine's Day of this year and my husband and I have decided to go ahead and take the steps necessary to conceive beginning later this month.

Guitarbee: I had the same problem for nearly 4 years it was a drag being told to lose the weight when it isnt easy to do. to stay on BCP when i want to get pregnant not prevent it. until i found my current doctor who took me seriously and didnt even make a comment as far as weight, i thought i was never going to get the help that i needed and wanted. so dont give up look up other GYN in your area and see if they have good recomendations as far as your specific health needs

good news--I just saw a new RE and I am very happy with her. She didn't even weigh me or take my blood pressure. I really liked how her attitude was "Let's get down to the bottom of this and see what's really happening." She was able to do a transvaginal ultrasound on me right in her office and knew what she was looking for, rather than my last RE who wrote me a prescription for a pelvic ultrasound and the ultrasound tech didn't really understand why I was there. Based on the transvaginal ultrasound my new RE did, she saw that my uterine lining was unusually thin, so that's why my periods were coming twice a month, so she is having me get a hysteroscopy next week and then putting me on Estrogen pills to thicken the lining and reduce the bleeding. I'm really happy that she didn't just shoo me away and put me right on some sort of medicine--my 1st gyno put me right on the Pill and expected that to go well, but it didn't, then my 2nd RE put me on Provera to bring on my periods even though she didn't understand that the problem was that they were coming TOO OFTEN rather than not at all.

Also, the last RE I saw was very high strung about me being on Spironolactone without a form of BCP because she was afraid I'd get pregnant (even though I'm not sexually active or dating anyone), have a baby with birth defects, and sue her for medical malpractice. The new RE I just saw didn't seem to have any problem with me being on Spiro, and it is working very well for me, so I'm happy about that. So now I'm thankful for my current RE.
