Thanks & The Weight thing Just a thank you to everyone who has replied to my "Hello" message. It's nice to feel there are other people out there who you can talk to about PCOS who can understand what you feel/go through.
I have tried to explain PCOS to a couple of people, most in relating to talking about diet, ie, trying to loose weight, which for me is very very difficult. I did loose 4st (before I knew I had PCOS), but it was initially when I was going for infertility investigations and was put on Clomiphene (or Clomid). Anyhow, that seemed to kick start a "balance" in my hormones and I was on a very small amount for about 6mths. Once I got the first stone off and found it so much easier than ever before. However, much has changed, lifestyles, leaving my old job and going back to Uni to retrain to become a nurse and of course, due to having to do shifts, study, etc., I managed to put a lot of weight back on (the Dr at the IVF clinic reackoned being stressed can trigger the hormone imbalance again and thus you put weight back on and can't get it off again). No-one, especially my mother, seems to belive me that I am overweight due to this. Has anyone else ever experienced this - people being so disbelieving. They kind of act like you are just making excuses for yourself?
I have been advised by a friend also that The Zone is a really good diet to be on especially for PCOS. Has anyone tried this and if so, did they find it hard to get to grips with. I have the book, just not the time at the moment!:p |
