With Thanksgiving long over, who is decorating for Christmas already
All over the net, I hear Americans complain that Christmas decorations are out too early because it's not Thanksgiving yet. Well, that's not an issue here, so I'm wondering who has started decorating?
Our tree is up, but needs lights and ornaments. I have all of the Christmas placemats out, and the decoration on the door. We put a small tree in the front window, and do outdoor lights too, but those have yet to be done.
I know that there are places where Christmas things are out before Hallowe'en (not counting craft supplies and such), and that's a bit much, but I honestly like being decked for Christmas already. The Toronto Santa Claus Parade (100th annual) is on this Sunday, and my mother always has her house decorated by then. We like to have ours finished by First Advent, which is the 28th this year.

Here in Ottawa we had the Santa Claus parade this past weekend. I think it was moved up this year because of the Grey Cup being in town.
We haven't started decorating yet, but will be getting started this weekend. We have started our Christmas card list and I will be starting in on those tonight - the ones that go outside of Canada anyway. I figure if I do them in batches then it will be done before I know it, and I won't get tired of doing it
I've been told that we aren't allowed to put our tree up until Dec. 12!! My boyfriend and his crazy traditions.
I'm also going to start on the Christmas cards soon... also since we moved and a lot of my family still doesn't have my new address. Might as well let them know via a Christmas card!
on a side note, do you know how hard it is to find non-relgious French Christmas cards? Yikes!

I cannot imagine putting off decorating as long as some do. I love to sit in the chair with just the glow of the Chirstmas lights to illuminate the house. Maybe a candle or two. It would just feel weird if Advent were to begin and there were no decorations.

Ajani, do you want to come tell my boyfriend that?
My family tradition was always to start decorating on Dec 1. My school tradition (I went to boarding school) was to start around Dec. 6. My boyfriend is adamant about waiting till the 12th. So I'm going to start decorating with subtle little things here and there.

My Dh's got a head start with the christmas lights on the house Or did he even take them down
We have a real tree, so it will have to wait a bit yet. This is our first year with a mobile child, so I don't know how that is going to work yet. Definately no decorations near the bottom...that will drive DH crazy (his tree is very balanced )
We are also waiting to get DS's first birthday over with. So maybe after December 5th we can start. I'm not into it as much as usual this year. I'm not sure why, usually I start playing christmas music right after thanksgiving!!
On a side note...Toronto cysters...are you taking in the big parade. It has been the talk of the country. 100 years. I love parades. The Santa parade is really lame around here. It is often to cold outside, so they do it through the pedway system in the mall....LAME! Oh well, I guess we will take DS sometime.

Okay i started playing my Christmas cds in the van on the way to work starting i think the day after halloween :o I'm partial to the barenaked ladies vs the barra mcneils...depends on the darkness level!!
We still have to get the pumpkins and scarecrow off the front porch...but the urge for tinsel is definately strong, and we've had our lights up for i think 5 or 6 years!! Bethers did you see the parade...we missed it but last year it was soooooo cold!!! Hope it was fun...i have to get my act together...sheesh!!
Merry pre-Christmas everybody!!

wow! I wish all of my shopping was done! I fear the Christmas Eve rush, where it's me and a bunch of men in the stores, fighting over the last bathrobes.
Luckily (kinda) a lot of my family is overseas/out of the province, so I had to mail out their gifts weeks ago. So that helps cut down my 'still to buy for' list and my wallet, too!
my boyfriend's stepmom is one of those people who LOVES Christmas more than anything. Her house is always decorated from top to bottom, everything from three trees to Christmassy plates! I lost the spirit of Christmas a few years ago, but after going to her house, I love it again.

Well I got my DH to put up the christmas lights outside but that is far as it will go right now. I haven't even turned them on yet. We are waiting until Dec 1 to turn them on. As for all the other decorations and the tree it probably won't go up until about the 10th or so. Growing up we usually put up the tree and such around my dad's birthday which is the 15. So waiting a little longer is quite okay with me.

I have almost finished my Christmas shopping . . . still needs to be wrapped though.
Our Christmas lights have been up for about a week now.
But I decorated out tree at the library about 2 weeks ago.
