I wondered about this, too.
If you go to view, there are an awful lot of cysters listed as having attempted to steal points from others, but I noticed that in most cases it said Theft attempt was unsuccessful from "cyster's name".
There are two cases listed where theft was successful, although it looks like one case was when a cyster stole from herself.
Why a cyster would try to steal from another is beyond me anyway, but since there are obviously those who want to, I wish Kat would disable that function.
