I am considering therapy for depression. Will this effect our homestudy when we are ready to have one? Will they be able to find out about my therapy?

Hi,

For the medical part of our homestudy, there was a question of whether I had had any therapy/counseling and for what. I had counseling after my miscarriage and have been on anti depressants on and off since then for very short periods of time.

It's best to be honest with them on the homestudy instead of them finding out about it on their own. My caseworker wasn't concerned about my counseling (well, I had one appt, does that count for counseling?) or my past antidepressant use.

I have a history of depression & anxiety, therapy and medication and it did not hurt our home study.

I think it shows great strength on your part to get help when you need it.
