Default IS THERE AN ALTENATIVE OTHER THAN A D&C?

hi ladies..

i dont really know whats happening at the moment!

as far as i was concerned i was 8 weeks pg....had an appointment with the midwife wednesday to book in...but an hour b4 appointment i started getting brown discharge!!.....so when i saw her, i told her......she didnt book me in,and sent me for a scan..to see whats going on!..well scan was yesterday (thursday)......couldnt see much on abdominal scan so did tvs....and it seems the sac, yolk is there!..but very small foetal pole was 1.3mm..meaning 5 weeks gone...but cant be right as i did hpt 2 weeks ago..and had sore boobs 1.5 weeks prior to this(that is the reason i did the hpt's).....anyhow she couldnt see no obvious signs of bleeding..everything looked normal apart from being so small...i have to go next week for another u/s..to see if it has grown..if it has...then all is fine....if not, then it means it died at 5weeks,,,and they will refer me to gynae .

since wednesday!....im still getting a brown watery discharge its there and gone...a few hours later its back again!..anybody else had this...and what happened???

ill have to wait till next friday to see whats going on!!
If the featal pole hasnt grown....and they refer me to the gynae clinic....will they offr me a d&c???
is there anything that anyone knows of to expel it?

i would rather not have a d&c...but if thats all that on offer!

dont get me wrong im hoping and praying that all is going to be fine!...but im not kidding myself...i know in my heart of hearts this pregnancy has gone pear shaped! :-(

cheers ladies

gina

Gina

So sorry this is happening. I've never had to go through this, but I think if your body doesn't clear itself out then a D&C is the only option.

I really hope it doesn't come to this for you. When I lost my baby, like you, I didn't want a d&c for a couple of reasons. I'm terrified of a general anesthetic and also I didn't want people "down there" when I was out of it - bad enough when I'm conscious! I was also worried about any damage that might be done, although I understand the risk is minimal.
I talked over my concerns with my doctor and was offered a "medical miscarriage" which mean I had to take drugs to induce a miscarriage. Now this was difficult and painful, but I was happy with decision i made. what happened was I went to the hospital on the Saturday and was given the first dose. I then went home and was to return on the Monday. I started to bleed a bit on the Sunday night and it was quite heavy by the time I got to the hospital on the Monday. They thought I might expel everything with just that dose, but it didn't happen, so the next dose was directly into the vagina. Unfortunately with me because I was bleeding heavily these came straight back out, so I was given an oral dose. This worked. What happened was I had contractions, which were painful, but I was given diamorphine, and actually slept for a bit. It was a very long day, but my husband was with me the whole time and I was conscious. The nurse caring for me was wonderful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her.
I'm not saying this would be right for you, but it is an alternative to a d&c. If you find this is necessary talk to the doctor. I think the drugs were called "mesoprositol", but I'm not 100% certain.
I really hope you have a good outcome, but if you need to go through this feel free to email or PM me, I will help in any way I can.
Love
Deeds
